A Guide To Finding Hawaii Long Term Rentals

Long-term living in Hawaii usually means renting a home, condo, or villa for 180 days or more. However, it’s possible to rent some of the properties in Hawaii for a term of between one and six months. Since each of the Hawaiian Islands is unique, the island you choose will depend on your lifestyle, amenities you want in your rental, and the price range.

Rental Types

The choices of luxury vacation rentals in Hawaii include:

  • Condos
  • Single homes
  • Villas
  • Estates

Most single homes available as long-term rentals require a minimum of a six-month lease and a deposit. Amenities include heating and cooling systems, patio or deck, parking, and a private, landscaped yard with maintenance included. Kitchens are designed with a custom, wood cabinet, and new appliances. Many homes have open floor plans, fireplaces, and spacious living spaces. Expansive windows offer mountain or ocean views.

For the ultimate luxury experience, rent a spectacular home on the oceanfront. Homes in lush, tropical settings feature custom design interiors, indoor, and outdoor living, wraparound lanais, contemporary furnishings, and artwork inspired by the islands. Many luxury homes have first-floor, master suites with additional bedrooms on the second level. Swim in your private pool, walk on pristine beaches, or spend time snorkeling and boating.

The best island to stay in Hawaii is a matter of personal choice. Factors include the long-term rental that interests you, whether you want a luxury home on the ocean, an affordable family home near local attractions, or a new condo. You have to spend time in the islands to find the particular spot that meets your criteria for Hawaii luxury villas, condos, or estates.

Terms For Long-Term Rentals

Some rentals require a one year lease, but it depends on the property. Spend some time researching the islands before making a commitment, so you’re familiar with the types of properties that are available and the amenities that are included. Hawaii long term rentals are the ideal option for families, retirees, business executives, and expats.

Choosing the Islands

When you’re choosing the island that you’ll want to live on for part of the year involves a number of factors. For some people, the beaches are the biggest consideration, but it’s not the same for everyone.

Here are some criteria to consider:

  • Outdoor activities
  • Tours and Sightseeing
  • Tourist attractions
  • Nightlife
  • Shopping and dining
  • Scenery
  • Atmosphere

The best place in Hawaii to live for you may be one of the more popular tourist destinations or a secluded spot on a smaller island. Here are some destinations to consider:

  • Big Island
  • Maui
  • Kauai
  • Oahu

The Big Island

The Big Island is for the adventurous traveler who loves exploring scenic byways and national parks. Hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, and snorkeling are some of the activities to experience. Charming, plantation-style homes, bamboo houses, new condos, and oceanfront cottages are among the rentals available.

Maui For Every Lifestyle

Maui has a different atmosphere from the Big Island, with small towns, resorts, and dozens of picturesque waterfalls. The population is considerably smaller than Hawaii Island. Maui is one of the most affordable places to live in Hawaii, especially for families searching for a long-term apartment or condo rentals.

If you prefer an upscale property, there’s a variety of luxury Maui rentals.

The Charm Of Kauai

Kauai is a beautifully diverse island of mountains, tropical rainforests, and emerald green valleys. Some of the most scenic locales on the island may only be accessed by the air or by boat. If a luxury villa for your Hawaiian stay is a must, Kauai has some of the most elegant villas in the islands.

Villas for families may feature three or four bedrooms, each with a private bath, two living areas, master suites with private lanais, and spacious family rooms. Many of the villas are a minute away from the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

Oahu For Beach Lovers

Oahu has the most diverse population of any of the islands with eastern and western cultures, friendly people, and beautiful beaches. The island features more than 100 miles of coastline. Many of the long-term rentals are right on Waikiki Beach with astounding views.

Many of the beachfront condos in Oahu feature spacious, private lanais, queen-size beds, and sleep sofas in the living room. Keep in shape at a private fitness center or sip your favorite cocktail at the oceanfront bar.

An extensive selection of beachfront rentals is available for the most popular locales in Oahu and include Lanikai, Hauula, Pipeline, and Ma Kaha. One option is an oceanfront villa with a studio for the creative guest who plans to work during their stay. Watch the whales in the surf during the winter months and enjoy relaxing strolls on the beach in the summer.
