The 10 Best Mountains to Climb in England.

If you want to see the best of England, walking is the way to do it. Depending on your energy level, climbing an English mountain is one feeling that you will cherish throughout your life. To make the most out of your walking experience, you’ll need as much stability and support as you can get, and one way to achieve this is with adequate shoe insoles, like the ones provided by Protalus.com. You can travel to the United Kingdom through Thomas Cook Airlines, and the best part is that the tickets are also reasonably priced. So, let us head straight to the 10 best mountains to explore in the UK.

Helvellyn, Lake District

If you want to enjoy the mesmerizing views stretching from Wales to Scotland, then you need to be at the top of this mountain. Trust me, it is worth putting all that effort into reaching the top. Helvellyn is 3,000 feet high and is ranked as the third highest peak in England. Over the years, many avid climbers have successfully trekked to the top through Striding Edge, having a narrow track with huge drops on both sides. Here, you also get to enjoy a variety of hiking routes that are both easy and difficult, making climbing this mountain that much more interesting.

Ingleborough, Yorkshire Dales

With an elevation of 2,372 feet, this mountain has been ranked at the second position in the Yorkshire Dales. If you want to have a brush with the remains of huts built during the Iron Age, then you will have to gather all your strength to reach the top of the mountain. If you want to save your energy to climb other mountains as well, then at least make sure you wander towards the western side to witness the White Scars, a huge limestone plateau. You can also explore the White Scar Caves.

Scafell Pike, Lake District

Lake District National Park in Cumbria is where you can see England’s largest mountain. Having a total height of 3,209 feet, this mountain is quite a challenge to climb, but it all pays off when you get to see the splendid views – with visibility as far as Ireland, Wales, and Scotland. You can choose multiple routes to have a detailed look of the mountain, and walking among the towering peaks, massive boulders, and spellbinding scenery will make you feel energized. Most of the climbers choose to begin their hiking in the Wasdale Valley in order to have a glance at Wast Water, the deepest lake in England.

Dufton Pike, Pennines

At 1,578 feet, this mountain is not too difficult to climb. If you want to make the most of your climbing, start from Dufton Village – otherwise, for an easier path, go through a circular route that is considered gentle and ideal for the family members. Here, you will cherish the beautiful views of Dufton Village and Cross Fell, whether you have reached the top or decided to stick to the circular walk.

Blencathra, North Lakes

You will love climbing this mountain simply because it has a unique shape, owing to its nickname as the Saddleback. The main thing about this mountain is that it sports six-parted fell tops. Climbing to the top can be tricky as most of the spots have steep inclines, but you will love the natural beauty that you get to capture once you reach the summit. You also get to see various other sights which include the Lakes of Derwent Water, Isle of Man, and the Mourne Mountains.

Buckden Pike, Yorkshire Dales

Despite the 2,303 feet, most of the hikers prefer to climb to the summit to witness the memorial cross. The cross was established here in the memory of five Polish airmen from the Royal Air Force who crashed their bomber plane on January 30, 1942. Some climb to witness the great views of breathtaking sights, such as Yockenthwaite Moor, Yorkshire Three Peaks, and the Firth Fell.

Yewbarrow, Lake District

The Mountain is situated in Wasdale Valley and the total climb is 2,060 feet. If you climb to the top, expect to see the breathtaking views of the Scafells, the Kirk Fell, the Pillar, and the Great Gable. You will surely have a great time climbing Yewbarrow with its unique shape that is more like an overturned boat. The available routes range from moderate to challenging.

Place Fell, Lake District

While you are climbing, you will surely come across the great herds of deer, which is a unique experience altogether. The mountain has an elevation of 2,156 feet, and your climbing skills will be put to the test. On reaching the top, you will admire the natural beauty, including the Helvellyn range and the villages of Glenridding.

Great Gable, Lake District

Having an elevation of 2,949 feet, the mountain appears to have a pyramid type shape. Reaching the summit, you will witness the panoramic views and huge boulders. You also get to explore one of the well-known Adventure Peaks Lake District Guided Walks. There are multiple routes through which you get to explore the mountain, even if you don’t desire climbing to the top.

Old Man of Coniston, Lake District

The best thing about climbing this mountain is that there are well-marked paths that make climbing to the summit easier. You get to witness the remains of various abandoned mines and there are so many sights that you will surely cherish, such as Dow Crag.

So, what are you waiting for? If you are fond of hiking or mountain climbing, start packing your bags and have the adventure of a lifetime.
