A fascinating and honest account of an ESL teacher in Costa Rica, the narrator relates her experiences teaching English in three different schools around Costa Rica. When given the option to finish her TESOL program abroad, our narrator chose to travel to Costa Rica to teach in a country town in the rain forest.
With just a living stipend to support her housing with a host family and her food expenses, our narrator spent 8 months teaching children English and Environmental Education in Sarrapqui, Costa Rica. Eventually moving on to the buzzing metropolis of San Jose in the Central Valley, the narrator switches from teaching children in the country to businessmen in the city.
Unfortunately, our narrator is less than charmed with Costa Rica’s capital city and returns home——but not for long! Wooed once more by the siren song that is the “Pura Vida” life of Costa Rica, the narrator returns for her third teaching experience with a TESOL program. But will she like it this time?
