Get Your “Taste of Victory”

We are well into summer in the United States. Baseball season is in full swing, concert goers are seeing their favorite musicians in big outdoor venues, and the race tracks of America’s many proud Thoroughbred racing establishments are full of life.  Horse racing seasonlasts all year in this exciting and potentially lucrative sport.

Many enjoy horse racing for the atmosphere, the beautiful grounds, watching powerful animals achieve their peak performance, the excitement in the air. Many others enjoy the betting aspect of horse racing, which often entails winning significant sums of money. What most don’t realize, however, is that the big money is not won by the betting public. The big money is won by the owners of the thoroughbred athletes.

When thoroughbreds compete, their owners earn portions of what are known as “purses.” The purses are typically divided with 60% of the purse going to the winning owners, 20% going to second place owner, 10% to the third, 5% to the fourth, 3% for fifth and 2% for sixth. With the lion’s share of the purse going to the winning horse, there is always stiff competition for owners to push their horses to be the very best. Purses typically range from 20k-100k, but can get as high as a cool $1 million or more. This is proof that the horse owners, and not just the enthusiasts placing bets, are the real winners at the track.

With such large amounts of money available to be earned along with the incredible excitement to see your horse thundering toward the finish line, it is no wonder that there is so much interest in owning a thoroughbred.  For those people who are interested to be involved in the excitement and potential profits, a syndicate can make it easy and affordable.

He is currently ranked as the 22nd earner in America for 2016.  What A View has won while leading wire to wire, by rallying from off the pace, on firm turf, good turf and yielding turf to show an incredible amount of versatility. After a brief respite from racing to prepare for a rigorous fall schedule, he is currently training at Del Mar in Southern California.  What A View is pointed toward a million dollar race at Keenland in October and potentially a two million dollar Breeders Cup event in November on his home turf at Santa Anita, California.

Along with the well established, What A View, TOV Stables has several young fillies in the group and a young colt whose pedigrees provide for much enthusiasm even before they begin to compete.  One such 2 year old filly is out of the mare Allswellthatnswell and by the sire, Acclamation. Allswellthatnswell has produced several high performing offspring and Acclamation is a former Eclipse Award Winner and earner of over $2,000,000 on the race track.  Another offspring of Acclamation within TOV C is a 2-year-old filly out of the mare Thorellen.Unraced herself, however, Thorellen’s full sister, Thor’s Echo (both out of the mare Helen of Troy and the sire, Swiss Yodeler), was the winner of $2,400,000 and the Breeders’ Cup Sprint Championship.  Three other fillies are included in the group as well as a 2-year-old colt named Buddy Bear.  Buddy Bear was foaled by the mare Affectionate and the sire Cyclotron.  Affectionate has ties to Destin, who lost the 2016 Belmont Stakes by a nose while Cyclotron is the leading sire in California in terms of earnings per start for 2016.   Four fillies in this group are unnamed but will be given names by co-owners who join TOV C.
