Working abroad can be an exciting, lucrative and rewarding experience. Virtually all careers and services are needed almost anywhere in the world that interests you. No matter which route you decide to go with, before agreeing to anything, make sure that the area’s work culture is conducive to your life. For instance, you might be expected to work 60 to 80 hours per week in China. If the standard 40 hours per week in the States is a stretch for you, then China may not be the best choice.
When first starting your search, reach out to your connections and acquaintances. Social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn are an easy way to put the word out that you’re in the market for an international position. Plus, companies are always more likely to hire someone they’re familiar with or who has a good referral.
Your second best resource is the Internet. Here you can find an endless number of trade sites, placement agencies, international head hunters, and job search engines to assist in your goal of an overseas job.
With a little planning and lots of ambition, finding your dream job abroad can be one of the most gratifying undertakings of your life, both personally and professionally.
