Despite being the next state over, it is worth mentioning Campeche as well. It is located 2 hours away from Merida and is a place packed with history. Over 40% of the state is covered in jungle and boasting the nation’s largest bio reserve.
The city of Campeche has plenty of colonial architecture, delicious Yucatecan food, and restaurants, along with one of the oldest Carnival celebrations in the country.
