 Why
A New Nation?
In April of 1939 the
New York World's Fair, "Building The World of Tomorrow," opened on what
was once a marshy wasteland in Flushing Meadows, just east of the great
metropolis. From its inception to its closing ceremonies, the Fair promoted
one of the last great metanarratives of the Machine Age: the unqualified
belief in science and technology as a means to economic prosperity and
personal freedom. Wedged between the greatest economic disaster in
America and the growing international tension that would result in World
War II, The World of Tomorrow was a much-needed antidote to the depression
and confusion of the times. It provided the one saving grace which all
of America needed - it provided hope.
The 1939 - 1940 World's
Fair - Was a moment in time when the human race believed in itself,
believed in tomorrow and believed in the unqualified greatness of humanity.
It is our opinion that those innovative thinkers who want to start a new
nation have within them a reflection of the spirit of that moment in time.
We don't know that for a fact; but we'd like to think it so. A new nation
could mean many things... freedom from the constipated idiocy of the current
governments that misrule the worlds nations. It could mean freedom from
taxation, freedom from repression, and the right to live our lives as we
see fit, free from the constraints of politicians. |

I searched for examples of prior efforts to modify shipping containers
for housing. The companies that sold the containers sometimes

exchange rate of one U.S. dollar. Passports and stamps have been in circulation
since 1969, however, contrary to many misleading websites and news articles,

people who enjoy some of the highest standards of living in the world.
This area also encompasses the financial, industrial and cultural heart
of Europe. The platform/island is currently
