Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
This European resort is booming with socialites but the actual runs are relatively clear compared to many other crowded European slopes. Additionally, Cortina has been heralded as one of the most beautiful places to ski thanks to the jutted Dolomite peaks that speckle the landscape.
Wanaka, New Zealand
This resort is erupting as an adventure destination for skiers. Nestled between New Zealand’s Southern Alps and Lake Wanaka, the small alpine town of about 5,000 people is incredibly accommodating to travelers.
If light as a feather powder is your dream, then Niseko gladly delivers thanks to the Siberian storms that constantly flow into the island of Hokkaido. Night skiing is the mountain’s specialty and the birch forests make for excellent playgrounds when the big windstorms hit.
No matter what when you get the urge to ski, Hintertux can deliver beautifully groomed runs year-around. Tucked in the Tyrolean Zillertal Valley, you can always escape the heat of summer or the tropics with the cool, refreshing climate.
Crested Butte, CO USA
Crested Butte combines historic mining town and epic runs seamlessly in a rugged high elevation mountain setting. While perfect for cutting some fresh powder, this is also a great place for skiers and snowboarders of all experience levels.
In good snow, prepare yourself for 9,000 foot vertical drops in Chamonix. This ski resort promises some of the most extreme ski terrain in the world. Crisscrossed over a huge valley, you’ll have your choice of 11 breathtaking zones to choose from.
Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada
This resort has more of a European feel than a North American feel and offers some of the finest skiing in Canada. There are 95 runs on a sunny mountain face that will give you over 2,000 feet of skiable vertical.
Las Leñas, Argentina
If you’re constantly in pursuit of pristine backcountry, then look no further than Las Leñas from June to October. Here there are literally no boundaries so you can explore as far as you feel comfortable. Despite the intimidation of the limitless terrain, this resort is accommodating to all skill levels, too.
