Faster Than the Speed of Sound

It’s always a pleasant surprise to discover that your flight is going to land early. Imagine finding out that your flight was so fast that you are going to land almost an hour earlier than you thought. That’s how some passengers felt on Monday.

On Monday, a Virgin Atlantic flight hit 801 miles per hour on a flight from Los Angeles, California, to London, England. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the science of flight speed, that is faster than the speed of sound!

Depending on altitude, air pressure, and other conditions, sound travels at roughly 767 miles per hour. In 2018, a flight by Norwegian Air broke previous records by hitting 776 miles per hour.

The Boeing 787-9 that was flown on Monday has a cruising speed of 560 miles per hour, but with the help of a naturally occurring jet stream, the aircraft was able to hit the record-breaking speed.

Thanks to the jet stream, the flight landed in London 48 minutes earlier than planned.

The Reigning Expat Champ

For the fourth year in a row, the HSBC Expat Explorer study has named Singapore the top expat destination. The survey takes the opinions of over 22,000 expats found worldwide.

Why are people loving Singapore? According to the report, the destination has favorable benefits for expats such as a strong, stable economy at the forefront. Many expats located in Singapore have also appreciated the ability to grow their career.

Other factors include a healthy social and cultural atmosphere, diversity, safety and security, and a high-quality family life.

If you are ready to move abroad and just cannot figure out where you want to go, the Escape Artist Conference would be perfect for you. There’s less than a month to join us. REGISTER TODAY!

World Class Eats on a Budget

Good food shouldn’t break the bank. A restaurant in South Africa proved that when they won the Restaurant of the Year award presented by the World Restaurant Awards.

Wolfgat is a seaside restaurant in South Africa that not only has great food but is always praised for its location. It is situated in a small historic fishing village called Paternoster on the western coast of the country.

The Wolfgat experience is centered around a seasonal tasting menu that features local ingredients foraged from nearby locations and sustainable seafood, lamb, and venison. The seven-course tasting menu is only about $60 per person, allowing visitors to enjoy the location and tasty food for a low price.

The World Restaurant Awards is a yearly event that celebrates restaurants in various categories, judged by a panel of restaurant journalists, influencers, and culinary professionals from 37 countries around the world.

Costa Rica Tourism and Real Estate Trends

Costa Rica is a popular tourist hub – as such, its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is highly influenced by that industry. In fact, income from tourism increased by 7 percent last summer (2017), and between 2012 and 2016, the tourism sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP increased from 4.4 percent to 6.3 percent. Accommodation, food, and beverage services were at the top of the list for most important activities.

That being said, many who are looking to purchase homes in the country want to focus on those busy tourist areas, the ones with a good economy and plenty to do – and we certainly don’t blame them!
