Today’s
best deal on Caribbean beachfront is 150 miles south of Cancun - see it
now - Click
Here - In the early 1970s, property along the northern Mexican Caribbean,
then a deserted strip of beach with no electricity, no phones, and one
sorry, sand road, sold for a song. In Cancun in 1976, land changed hands
for $3.70 a square foot. It now sells for 19 times that. Today Mexico’s
Costa Maya is arguably the best value you’ll find anywhere in the Caribbean.

South Africa:
crime, a suspicious “epidemic,” and some of the world’s best real estate
bargains - Click
Here - I’ve seen no evidence of an AIDS plague anywhere in Africa.
No overloaded hospitals, no sick people lying about the streets, no horror
stories from locals and the epicenter of the epidemic is supposed to be
in the very places in central and southern Africa where I’ve spent the
most time. In fact, when I was in the Congo’s Katanga province last year,
I went out of my way to visit a hospital in Lumumbashi run by a Belgian
doctor to talk with someone who actually dealt with these things first
hand. His opinion was that people were dying of lots of things, but not
noticeably more than was ever the case. He thought that to whatever degree
AIDS was a problem, malaria was a vastly bigger problem. He thought AIDS
was 90% hysteria and 10% reality. by Doug Casey
Buy a Rolls
Royce for the price of a Chevy…and other ways to profit from your travels
- Click
Here - It was strange to be sitting in the back seat of a Rolls Royce,
papers laid out in front of me on a folding picnic table, writing an article.
But as I gazed at the eleven hand-stitched Scandinavian hides that made
the seat covers, and as I ran my hands over the rare, polished, Italian
burl that adorned the car, I felt inspired. And knowing that my Rolls,
having traveled 100,000 miles, would run many more years and grow in value
as well, inspired me even more. Best of all, I bought that Rolls for less
than the price of a new Chevrolet. by Gary Scott
Ireland’s
wild wild west - Click
Here - “To hell or to Connaught.” So was Oliver Cromwell’s offer
to criminals and other unsavory characters in the 17th century. At the
time, popular opinion probably would have been in favor of the former.
Today, Connaught, Ireland’s wild west, is indisputably the country’s most
picturesque region. This is the Ireland of postcards, the Ireland
you have pictured in your mind before ever stepping foot on the Emerald
Isle. by Kathleen Peddicord
The five
best tavernas in Athens - Click
Here - Whatever else you can say about Athens (that
its
apartment blocks are ugly and its streets choked with cars, pollution,
and merciless sun), its tavernas are certainly some of the world’s best
eateries. Once you have discovered these gems, the city suddenly
becomes possible. The food is prepared very simply with the freshest ingredients.
The wine is cheap and abundant. Soon, you find yourself saying things
like, “You know, Athens isn’t that bad after all…”

The best
bond I’ve ever seen: This Argentinean investment could return 70% in two
years - Click
Here - I make my living traveling around the world, looking for investment
opportunities. I don’t specialize in any particular commodity, it can be
stocks, bonds, real estate, collectibles, etc. My most recent discovery
is in Argentina, a Second World country with one foot in the Third World
and the other firmly in the First. Here, I found a way to make 180% profits
over 7 years guaranteed, and the potential for a 70% return or more-over
2 years. I’ll explain how in a moment... by Steve Sjuggerud

Dear Fellow
Reader, I returned recently from 10 days in and around Quito,
Ecuador. Did I like it? The day after I returned to Sacramento, my wife
and I listed our house for sale. Eight days later, we had a firm sales
contract. We are now sorting furniture and personal items, giving away
as much as we can, and arranging for eight weeks of one-on-one classes
at Simon Bolivar Spanish School in Quito..
Seeking
a foothold in the Caribbean’s next hot spot-before the rest of the world
catches on - Click
Here - Dear Reader, After the most recent Discovery Tour to Belize,
I took a car north to Mexico, with contributing writer Jennifer Stevens.
We went from Belize City, around the Chetumal Bay, to the Quintana Roo
province, and, finally, our destination, the Costa Maya region, which stretches
from Placer to the southern tip of Xcalak. What did we find? In short,
what we believe to be the best opportunity for beachfront property investment
in the Caribbean today.

Here - An hour south of the Pan-American Highway in Guatemala is Lake
Atitlan, which was formed when the cone of a massive volcano collapsed.
The lake is ringed by towns and villages, many of them accessible only
by boat. A few weekends ago I met Dagmar (Marty) Bischoff, a German Jew
who came to Guatemala after 20-odd years in Texas. She lives in San
Pedro la Laguna, a village on the lake. ... (This observation

Here - Barcelona is a marvelous and exciting city. When I first came
here, I intended to stay only one year. That was 35 years ago. I now specialize
in renting houses and flats to expatriates who work in banks and consulates.
Rent in Barcelona at the moment is very high, but the center of Barcelona
is one of the best places to live in Spain. You could certainly do very
well buying properties in the city center and renting them to the increasing
number of expatriates and travelers who come here every year. (This observation
and much more)
