Davies - Also, don’t believe the rubbish spouted
on some government web pages, El Salvador is a beautiful country, it has
its problems, but nothing close to what some of these sites report. I am
British by birth, but with the very high rate of tax in the UK, and the
lousy weather that was starting to play havoc with my joints. I decided
to look for a warmer and less tax invasive country where I could live,
in the mid nineties. My job as a telecoms engineer has taken me to just
about every country and capital city in the world, but of all of the Latin
American countries (and I have worked in 90% of them), El Salvador was
the one I felt most at home in. In 1998, when I first arrived, El Salvador
was already one of the safest countries in Central America. That trend
has continued to the present day.

- The Zone Trade and Industry (ZOLIC, by its initials in Spanish) is the
first free zone in Guatemala, created by the government to promote the
industrial and commercial development of the country. ZOLIC is a functionally
autonomous organization with own patrimony, unlimited duration and legal
status. It is located in the Santo Tomas de Castilla Harbor, at Izabal,
Guatemala, Central America. It works in a fenced and security-supervised
area out of control of Guatemala Customs. Within its facilities, the following
activities, operations and negotiations can be done: Introduce, extract,
store, exhibit, pack, unpack, manufacture, can, mount, join, refine, purify,
mix, transform and, in general, trade and manipulate all kind of merchandises,
products, raw materials, equipments, containers and other trade goods with
the only exception of those articles which import is prohibited, according
to the laws of the Republic of Guatemala.

expected that the cost, time and effort saved would translate to higher
exports from the Zone.

is a Special Economic Zone in Cochin, in the State of Kerala in southwest
India, set up for export- oriented ventures. The Special Economic Zone
is a foreign territory within India with special rules for facilitating
foreign direct investment. The Zone is run directly by the Government of
India. Cochin SEZ is a multi-product Zone. Cochin is strategically located.
It is in southwest India, just 11 nautical miles off the international
sea route from Europe to the Pacific Rim. Cochin is being developed by
the Dubai Ports International as a container transhipment terminal with
direct sailings to important markets of the world, which could position
it as Hub for South Asia.
