ABOUT LIVING IN BELGIUM

| A plunging
euro makes Bruges property affordable (almost) – if
you act quickly -
Why on earth hadn’t I thought of it before? Bruges is one of those places
that stops you in your tracks, a perfectly preserved medieval city where
every street and building murmurs “photo opportunity.” Unless their
job takes them there, relatively few Americans think of relocating to Belgium.
Yet the strong dollar has brought many hitherto “expensive’’ European countries
within reach. The big surprise was that property was so affordable... by

Gothic
Ghent ~ Travels
In Belgium ~
Written & Photographed By Sam Mills - I had never seen a real guillotine
before, but here, in the Museum of Torture in the too aptly named Castle
of the Counts, was a real, live, working model. And, ghoul that I am, I
was fascinated. Circling the beast, I checked out the weight of the heavy,
rust-pitted blade, noting how ingeniously it had been cut on a bias
to better perform its grisly work. Jan/06 |

long-term rental in northern Europe - Enjoying
long-term rental in northern Europe - Although I love living in Ireland,
I have a bad case of wanderlust and a taste for foreign foods. I love to
poke around markets when I travel, particularly if I have the use of a
kitchen where I can cook local dishes. Renting is a good option, and I've
always found that it ends up being much cheaper than a lengthy hotel stay. |

The
Insider Guide To Black Paris - The
Insider Guide To Black Paris - Now
the cultural hub for English-speaking Blacks -- Africans, African-Americans,
West Indians, Blacks from the UK and Canada -- Paris is home. When
Melinda Herron first came to Paris twenty years ago, she wanted to know
where the Black hair salons were, where you could go to listen to Black
music, where you could buy foods like sweet potatoes, corn meal and black-eyed
peas. Even though she thoroughly enjoyed Paris and all it had to offer
culturally, it was essential somehow to get a taste and feel for "back
home." So, just like many sojourners who arrive in a new city, it became
important for her to connect with other Blacks in order to transform that
feeling for community in a living reality. |
