The Hotel Central - for many years the most luxurious hotel in Central America, it was constructed
in 1884 and was for many years the center of Panama's social life This hotel was all but forgotten
for almost one hundred years. This staircase is said to have been constructed in New York made of
the wood from the Ford Theater, (the theater where Lincoln was assassinated.) This entire hotel is
flawlessly preserved much as the photo demonstrates. It is still a working hotel that is open to the
