What does "Escaping" really cost? ~ The Impact of Personality and Personal
Tastes - Click
Here - In her second installment of escaping the rat
race north of the Rio Grande, Sandy Caputo prosaically emphasizes the associated
costs of living abroad within the context of wants and needs. She writes,
"It was during my last planned five-week immersion back into the world
of advertising and public relations in Tucson that my fiancé prevailed
upon me to agree to allow him in on my adventure. While alone, I may be
frugal, with him I become a lot more open to an if it feels good, do it
attitude. In my year and a half of escapist living, I’ve lived cheaply
and lived well. Now, there's a new version of living well in Mexico." It's
still cheap, but not so cheap.
Turning Haiti Into A Tropical Paradise - Click
Here - ...in essence, it's possible to transform a hellhole
like Haiti into the kind of place you'd want to move to, no matter where
you now live, regardless of other considerations. If there were ever a
true free market country, the place would be so overrun with rich people
that workers now making $1 a day would be in demand at $15 an hour... Doug
Casey has a plan to turn Haiti from a basket case into a tropical paradise
- Is this just a pipe dream or is it a possible reality? Doug Casey's
reputation is world renown, his expertise is amazing.
Cultivating
the Adventurer Within - Click
Here - Adventure travel is discovery ... the adventure
of going someplace you've never been before. Kristyn Durie discovered adventure
ten years ago. She's been doing it ever since, and she wants to share the
euphoria. Kristyn writes, "I was 18 when I caught the travel bug. It happened
in Russia in January of 1992. After it was over and the plane was headed
for home, I realized I'd not start as an adventurer, but my Siberian immersion
was different. It changed me. I found within me strength, curiosity, and
the spirit of to discover new places. I believe that we all have
this spirit and need only to challenge ourselves to find it."

Manners and the Japanese Business World - Click
Here - CEO Richard Bysouth of Career Cross Japan delivers
more valuable insight into the world of doing business in Japan. "As one
would expect from a country with such a strong sense of hierarchy and honour,
there are many unwritten laws regarding etiquette and manners that apply
to the business world. Although no-one will expect a foreigner to know
and abide by all these "codes of conduct", knowing a few of the basics
will go along way to smoothing the path to success in Japan.

follow the coastline. That's all we needed.

Revelations from a different kind of travel
- Click
Here - Phillip Ghee is a self-described gypsy and
sometimes Pharmacy Technician. What makes his stories uncommon are their
humorous, sometimes mystical, and sometimes there aspect of self-discovery
in the face of real or imagined conflict. Phillip writes, "We clearly choose
our own paths, but if we are insightful enough to interpret the sign posts
placed along those paths, we may find some interesting and perhaps some
mystical manifestations along the way. At different points throughout my
life, people have said to me, 'Look for the answer and you will find it.'
I'd decided to make my next trip without a question."

Aboard the Train to Djibouti: Rounding out the World as it is -

- Kirk Melcher and Maren Stoltenberg lived in Germany
until about a year ago. They decided to put jobs on hold and see the world.
This article finds them on a train in a very different land. They write,
"This trip is not to find ourselves, or find the secrets of life. We just
have the urge to experience something new and adventurous. The landscape
in Djibouti was mostly barren and uninhabited. Once in a while, we would
see a small village or a shepard with his goats. The houses were mostly
made of piled up stones and thatched roofs like a thousand years ago. The
whole train ride, Kirk did not really sleep, he was nervously watching
the bags, especially where the laptop was. Every time we stopped, the local
kids jumped onto the train. They seemed always interested in our bags.
Maren was able to sleep for short sections of the trip. Evening, the train
got pitch dark."

- This month, John Schroder of Ascot Advisory Services brings
to the table two opportunities for the careful minded investor. The first
highlights great interest rates on certificates of deposit in the Dominican
Republic. "Current rates for bank CD's range from about 6% up to
10% for a 90-day deposit. Interest is paid monthly and 100% locally tax-free."
Currency trading is the focus of the second opportunity. Ascot Advisory
Service has found a firm who's record shows above 30.03% return on smaller
accounts and 42.98% on larger for a 5 year period. The firm's clearing
account is carried with one of the largest banks in Singapore -- one that
is rated AA by Moodys rating service.
