With its focus on presenting affordable overseas
certificate programs, offering excellent training, and ensuring the employability
of graduates, ITC is distinct among TEFL training programs in this rapidly
growing industry. Our training and management teams have years of experience
in language schools and training institutes throughout the world. They
can offer a classroom of real world experience that enables our graduates
to begin careers in respected schools throughout the English teaching world.
Taking the ITC TEFL course outside of your home country gives you the hands-on
experience needed to make a smooth transition from student to teacher.
The teaching practice during the ITC course will help you get a realistic
feeling for teaching non-native English speakers. In addition to the course
itself, we offer support and guidance in your adjustment to living in another
country.
The course is an initial qualification
designed to provide prospective teachers with little or no classroom experience
with a good command of fundamental procedural skills used in EFL classrooms
around the world today. Throughout the program you receive a balance of
the necessary theoretical knowledge with practical application. The course
is essentially participatory in nature and teaching practice forms a major
component.
By the end of the course you are able to
plan and create enjoyable and engaging lessons and develop a good rapport
with foreign language students. We draw on a variety of methods and materials
which encompass different learning styles, encouraging active participation
and student-centred interaction through task-based learning.
Doing a TEFL certificate in either Prague
or Barcelona gives you the advantage of first-hand experience not just
in learning how to teach, but also of life and daily interaction in a different
country. This offers a greater understanding of second language learners
and provides further sensitivity to their needs. In addition ITC also offers
a series of fun and practical introductory Czech or Spanish lessons that
help you gently settle into your new environment.
The course itself offers:
-
a host of practical classroom activities and
ideas that are displayed in communicative workshops throughout the four
weeks;
-
a series of demonstration lessons that show
you how to plan and teach in a step-by-step fashion;
-
awareness-raising sessions that steadily improve
your knowledge in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation through a variety
of self-discovery activities and games;
-
a user-friendly manual which provides an excellent
companion both throughout the whole course and when you start out teaching.
This contains an outline for planning lessons with easy-reference sections
as well as a detailed grammar section and home-study worksheets;
-
six hours of teaching practice with real foreign
language learners – a course component that reflects the importance of
learning through practical experience in a natural setting;
-
the ability to reflect upon and evaluate your
own progress as teachers through supportive feedback which gives constructive
suggestions to enable you to focus on appropriate areas of development;
-
a self-access library which helps you plan
lessons and keeps you in touch with the latest teaching resources;
-
an experienced and supportive training staff
who are readily available to guide you through the program in order to
make sure that you succeed;
-
a general outline of business English and
one-to-one teaching.
The ITC course uses the Communicative Approach
to train new teachers whose skills will meet the specific needs of today’s
job market. Upon successful completion of the program ITC guarantees employment
in Eastern Europe. Our Job Guidance Director will also provide trainees
with worldwide employment contacts. ITC holds a job workshop during the
course inviting employers to meet with our students about employment opportunities.
This helps our teachers find work and immediate personal contacts with
our network of reliable clients built up over seven years of teacher training
both in Spain and the Czech Republic. We have a contact list of our graduates
who are happy to communicate with interested candidates. They are willing
to talk to you about their ITC and teaching experiences abroad.
No matter where they are in the world,
or how long they have been an ITC teacher, this lifetime service is available
to them. We actively encourage our former graduates to keep in touch with
us. The ITC commitment doesn‘t end on graduation from the program, we take
a positive interest in our teachers for the duration of their teaching
career. Our job guidance service is a valuable tool to help you make your
transition to another country. In addition we offer support in your adjustment
to living in another country by providing housing assistance and work visa
advice. You will not be left in the dark once the course is over.
