The
Wonders of Garni and Geghard-
Less
than an hour away from a capital city of more than one million people lies
an ancient Hellenistic temple, with magnificent colonnades that jut toward
the sky and intricate carvings that carry messages from the past, located
on a triangular cape and overlooking a deep, ominous gorge. At first glance,
the temple reminds one of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. However,
this is not Greece, but Armenia.

Argentina's
Cash Machine Daily Withdrawal Limits - Money Out -
Unfortunately,
over the past year, a conspiracy against foreigners seems to have been
developing in Argentina. The Argentine banks have started to fix limits
on the amount of money foreigners are able to withdraw. And these
aren’t just normal fixed limits; these are LOW fixed limits. The
current limit per withdrawal in Argentina is set at about $300 pesos (roughly
$100 US dollars). Although that will get you much further in Argentina
than in The States, it is hardly enough to cover average tourist expenses.

Myths
and Misconceptions about Healthcare and Health Insurance - One
of the biggest misconceptions that many people have in regards to health
insurance pertains to the need for a policy. Many individuals believe
that despite not having a health insurance policy or plan that they will
be able to obtain the healthcare services that they need and will be able
to avoid any serious health conditions. In reality, because of this
lack of insurance, people who do not hold a health insurance plan are more
likely to forgo vital healthcare treatments, often with serious consequences,
including death.

Life
or Death: Liver Transplant in India - My
brother was born and raised in Ottawa Canada but has lived in Florida for
22 years, he owned his own business so had no medical insurance.
He was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. When he came to my
daughter’s wedding in the summer of 2006 he was his usual self, however,
when we went to visit him in November of the same year I was devastated
to see the change in him.

In
Umbria with Aunt Alma - I pass the
cemetery every time we enter and exit Piccione (the name means Pigeon in
English). The town of a few hundred inhabitants is down the way from
Colombella (Dove). The cemetery angles up a small hillside covering
about an acre in all and sits along a stretch of asphalt that has become
increasingly industrialized. Despite the trucks and other modern
activity, you can still feel the one-small-town-down-the-road-from-the-next
sense of country life.

Things
To Consider Before Retiring In Mexico - When
you talk to some here in Guanajuato who are from different regions in Mexico,
they have some very firm convictions about the differences between the
local culture and the culture of their home regions. Recently, we
talked with a lady from Zacatecas who works in a local business.
She confirmed what we've been told over and over again about the difference
between the people of Guanajuato and those from Zacatecas. She was
a bit adamant about the differences in the two peoples.

|
The
Changing Landscape Of Jos, Nigeria- The
pear shaped tableland known as the Jos plateau stretches for approximately
8,600 km2. It is one of the most recognized geographical regions
in Nigeria. As you travel through the Jos plateau, you will be enthralled
by its aesthetic beauty - the thing that’s sure to catch your attention.
The plains are carpeted by lush grassland vegetation, so much like those
of mid-latitude temperate grasslands - the only difference being the fact
that those of the Jos plateau are often dissected by erosion gullies, mine
ponds and mine dumps, the aftermath of intense tin mining activities.

Relocating
Abroad..Ahhhhh! - The
expatriate is sure to ride the emotional rollercoaster after arriving in
the host country, and a great majority of these ups and downs has to do
with cultural differences. Cultural differences are here to stay
and are what make life interesting. If you arrive in a new country
with your ethnocentric thinking cap on, then all you’re going to get is
a lot of migraines (the only plus being the funky Panamanian Panadol).

The
Last Wave - I
went fishing with my friend Evan yesterday. Evan has been knocking
around Asia since the Boxer Rebellion, building roads and bridges and oil
fields and whatever needed to be built, having lots of wives and lots of
kids and a few bouts of malaria on the way. I think he was born in
Australia, but he left there a boy, probably stowed away on The Beagle,
so his accent now sounds like a South African raised by a Filipina nanny
in Cornwall. He swears in Vietnamese, and sings dirty songs in French.
He's a shameless racist and one of the nicest men I know.

Vassa,
The Buddhist Lent - Most
of us have some aspect of our personality or our life that we wish to change.
We want to lose weight, quit smoking, save money, or develop the discipline
to meditate daily and heal our minds. Some people wish to become less materialistic
and to appreciate the simple things in life. Our biggest holidays,
Christmas and Thanks Giving (and Chanuka) are good opportunities to overeat,
overindulge, overspend, over-consume, and overdo.

Buenos
Aires in the Spring - Buenos
Aires, now an international travel destination, offers good value as well
as the seduction of living in a bygone, slower-paced era. Entranced tourists
shop, sip coffees in open air cafés, take tango lessons, dig into
thick slabs of beef, drink the rich red local wines, and visit Evita's
grave in Recoleta. An Argentine friend recounted to me how surprised
she was to learn that most tourists visit only Buenos Aires.

How

has been on the path to economic recovery following several years of economic
decline; but despite that local salaries remain small and commensurately,
properties are cheap compared to the rest of the Union.

| Why
the Well-to-Do Are Escaping America |

By
Bob Bauman
|
Why
the Well-to-Do Are Escaping America - A
1999 U.S. State Department survey suggested 4.1 million Americans lived
overseas. Every year, about 250,000 U.S. citizens and resident aliens
leave America to make a new home in some other nation. In 2005, the U.S.
Bureau of the Census upped this estimate. They guessed that over
350,000 U.S. citizens and resident aliens would leave the United States
permanently. Many of these emigrants are wealthy people who want
to escape what they see as the excessive taxes and political tyranny of
the United States government.

Guide
to the Bucharest Stock Exchange and Romanian Securities Investments
- The
first Romanian stock exchange was originally established in 1882, but it
was closed in 1948 following the nationalization of private property by
the communist party. A few years after the fall of communistic rule,
the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) was formally opened on April 21, 1995
and effectively started trading on November 20, 1995 with just six companies
and only one trading session per week. Today, coupled with the benefit
of accession into European Union Membership on January 1st, 2007, realizing
breathtaking returns on market performance and relishing in new technology
and foreign investment, the Romanian financial markets seem be building
onto a new, shining era of modern expansion.

Tastes
Like Home -
Maybe
the taste of food has to do with where you eat it and the people you share
it with. As a Canadian, staying in Malacca Malaysia, I couldn’t agree
more. To me, food always tasted better when it was eaten with family
and served hot by a waitress, as opposed to slopping it on a paper plate
amidst the busy atmosphere of some shopping mall in the suburbs.

Kyrgyzstan:
Worth Exploring Off the Beaten Path - Kyrgyzstan
is both enigmatic and quirky. It is difficult to characterize Central
Asia as it is at the crossroad of Chinese, Russian, and Middle Eastern
cultures. It is still struggling to break from its past Soviet rule
and embrace its nascent national identity, but in so doing an utterly unique
country has emerged.

Traveling
To Mexico With Children - Anywhere
in Mexico is a good place to travel with kids, my personal opinion.
The tourist meccas of Cancun, Cozumel, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta on
the mainland, and Los Cabos in Baja, are more expensive and may have less
serious crime - due to the diligence of police, and local officials, seeking
to secure tourist dollars. There is plenty of petty theft, however,
and you do need to watch your wallet wherever you go, as thieves target
tourists throughout Mexico.

Red

in Salamanca was extraordinary. We participated in the Easter Eve
vigil in the main plaza until well after midnight, withstanding freezing
temperatures, huddling together to keep warm. The next morning I

while I visited Salamanca, watching her pack her big red suitcase.
We bought this extra large suitcase before embarking on her junior year
of college in Spain.

France
is the ideal place to start any antique shopping tour. Around the

If France is the sun, then antique shoppers are the world. Our buying

You Ever Wanted To Know About Buying A Castle |

All
You Ever Wanted To Know About Buying A Castle By Helga van Horn
- I once said that most people will do almost anything to read about buying
a castle, because it's such a fascinating subject; but few of them will
ever really go out and buy a castle. Well I wrote that before the Berlin
wall fell and the sudden surprise appearance of numerous magnificent castles
in Eastern Europe. Suddenly we were seeing castles worth buying at
prices we could afford. Then came the expat revolution, (diaspora?) and
thousands of people starting moving overseas; and what better house could
we ask for beyond a castle? That's the top of the line in housing.
...and think of the business you could run out of a castle; Bed & Breakfast,
Resort Hotel, Restaurant, Spa, Condiminium Project, Joint Ownership, Time
Share . . . you can use your own imagination to figure out dozens of use
concepts, because the greatest part of buying a castle is the dreaming.
. . . and there's money to be made with castle ownership . . .
People have
always traveled to distant parts of the world to see great buildings or
other works of art, to learn new languages, to experience new cultures,
or to taste new cuisine. As long ago as the time of the Roman Republic
places such as Baiae were popular coastal resorts for the rich. Castles
are a natural draw; always have been, always will be. They aren't building
any more 300 year old castles - supplies are limited.
Last year tourism
generated USD$ 5,490.4 billion dollars of economic activity and it is set
to generate even more in the coming years. It is perhaps the major industry
that anyone can enter - - with no limits to its growth. If you get
a castle - and if you buy it as a result of seeing it advertised on EscapeArtist.com
or as a result of reading this eBook report on buying castles, and if you're
willing to put a statement on your website stating as much; then EscapeArtist.com
will give you free advertising for your castle-run business.
Also, keep
in mind that if nothing else, traveling through Europe looking for a castle
would make an ideal vacation...

Ramble in South-East Asia - In February of 2004, after teaching English
in China for a year, Ron Hannah and his partner Ruth Forbes crossed the
border into Vietnam, seeking adventure and fleeing the coldest winter in
fifty years. They met peasants and monks, students and fellow wanderers,
and they spent an unexpected three weeks in Thailand without even the benefit
of a guidebook. For these travelers, this was a time of growing perceptions
of the nature of mankind and of global interdependence and vulnerability.
It is an experience from which everyone who reads this eBook will gain.
