| International Assignments in a Changing World - Until a few years ago, relocations were a relatively simple business. Companies selected their most career-oriented employees, got them to pack a few belongings and move with family to the other side of the globe. The relocations and international assignment business has come a long way since then. As globalization steadily continues, companies are now more cost conscious than ever and it has become imperative for companies to evolve. Most companies are now changing their relocation policies to adapt to the current economic, social and technological environment and also to ensure the employee receives much needed support during a move. |

| School Daze - How to Find the Right School Abroad - Education abroad is a complex topic and probably one of the greatest concerns for parents dragging their kids halfway around the world. Getting advance information about schools in the place you’ll be heading is often difficult if you can’t visit beforehand, which is usually the case if you’re on a limited budget. Moreover, schools offer your family some of the best and most natural opportunities to meet neighbors, make new friends, and bridge the language and culture gap abroad. |

Making Sure The Sailing Is Smooth - Many people moving from one country to another hire international moving companies. As part of their services, moving companies often have a relocation element, meaning help with choosing a home and an introduction to the new cultre, for example.
Thanks to a burgeoning business in Argentina called relocation services, newcomers to Buenos Aires can have a very smooth ride. |

| Health Insurance:Thailand - Expatriates from all over the world are visiting Thailand in increasing numbers for a myriad of different reasons. Some are choosing to go to the country for the serene sights that can be found in the country’s many lush jungles and forests. Some foreign nationals are going to Thailand in order to enjoy a relaxing beach holiday in one of the many infamous resort locations. There may even be economic reasons for the relocation; many expatriates however, are choosing to visit, or permanently relocate to, Thailand because of the low cost, high quality healthcare services that the country can offer. |

| London's Calling - Having recently relocated to London, England from Vancouver, Canada, I have come across some things that may be helpful to know upon your arrival. Lucky for me I have a friend that has lived in London for the past five years. This has definitely helped to ease my transition into the big city, but if you don't have a friend nearby, hopefully this information will help. |

| Panama City Beyond The Myth - Boomers, your attention, please! Panama offers a real estate’s ball and you are its special guests. The dreams’ factory is very busy organizing the feast, counting on you to populate the numerous waterfront resorts and towering condominiums aiming for the clouds. However, when considering expatriation, security is one main factor. The World Health Organization considers Latin America as the most violent region in the world, after Africa. |

| What's Wrong with Us in Mexico? - I was sitting in the bus station in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. My wife and I had just completed a four-day fact finding mission. We had been there to see for ourselves, to take careful notes of what we observed and to find out if what we had been told by fellow expats in the Mexican city in which we live, was true. We had heard some of the most outlandish stories of gringo, American gringo, behavior and to state it simply, we went to have a look see. We were not disappointed. |

|
| Re-location Continuum...- To the Western eye, things sometimes seem to be just the opposite of what we in the west deem as normal behavior. With that in mind, if you happen to be on a bus, don’t be surprised if you see an adult give up a seat to a small child (as opposed to the western dogma that a child give up a seat to an adult). The majority of Thai children (with the exception of the darker side of Thai life) are pampered from the very beginning years of life. This is starting to change in the larger and more modern population centers. However, when it concerns the rural areas of the country, change of any type, comes very, very slowly if at all. |

| Tsunami Relief in the form of Community Based Tourism - The 2004 Tsunami, which ripped through Thailand’s Andaman coast left thousands dead. The death toll only represents a fraction of those made homeless. Tens, even hundreds of thousands more lost their livelihood. When the angry sea finally receded, shop owners and farmers found they had nothing to return to. Near Koh Phratong, the bulk of the largely Muslim population made their living as subsistence fishermen, catching enough today to eat to tomorrow, with little or nothing to spare for a rainy day. With their boats lost, the men realized they would be unable to feed their families. |

| The Top 20 Reasons Not to Move to Dubai - Living in Dubai is not wonderful and glamorous, as many would have you believe. Forget about what you’ve read, seen, and heard; those shiny buildings and manmade islands are all just smoke and mirrors. There are so many things wrong with this place that I have decided to compile a list, a must read if you are considering a potential move to Dubai. |

| How and Where to Shop Online - So, you're on your boat in Road Town, Tortola, BVI and have decided to buy 3 new books for this months reading. The 3 books combined cost $52.50 and the shipping cost to Tortola for the 3 books $25.60, $37.50 ? more ..
Often Shipping outside the USA can cost as much or more than the items you're buying unless you know exactly where to shop. |

| McMurdo Life - About two years and a lot of hoops jumped through later, I was on my way to McMurdo Station, home to about 1200 people, for the Southern Hemisphere summer. The base is the largest establishment on the continent and the main one of the three US bases. It primarily exists to support science. And in the support of science, someone needs to clean up after science. Science after all, can get messy you know. So that’s where I came in. |

| Working in the U.S. – Common TN Visa Problems to Avoid - Approval of the TN (TN-1) Visa to work in the U.S. is very subjective and since 9/11 and the various terrorist attacks, the U.S. Immigration Officers scrutinize each TN Visa application more carefully. This does not mean it is impossible for you to obtain your TN Visa, rather it means you want to ensure your TN Visa application is valid, professional and most importantly you are well prepared for the border interview. |

| Wall Street Wants Your Retirement Plan - These days, it’s impossible to keep your wealth a secret from the U.S. government. At least – it’s impossible to do so legally. But that’s no reason to abandon the idea of financial privacy. Even if you have absolutely nothing to hide, you should still keep your wealth as private as possible for your own asset protection. And while the most private arrangements are "offshore," you can achieve a surprising degree of financial privacy by properly configuring your domestic assets. |

| The Rich Feast In London Has Left A Property Bubble In Its Wake -Back in London for the summer, I find myself amazed at the silence of the Property Peakees and their less affluent cousins, the Property Dispossessed. The former have seen their paper property wealth rise, while the latter have been left off the housing ladder, and found it difficult to get the media or politicians to take any interest in their economic frustrations. I reckon this may be now changing. |

| Las Lenas: Downhill All The Way - Only 75 years ago skiing was an elitist pursuit practised by a few privileged people, rich and royal, on the European Alps. Now it’s a world-wide endeavour, enjoyed by millions in places as diverse and unlikely as India and Mexico. For the snow bum it’s a way of life, for the athlete a serious sport. Needless to say it generates millions of dollars in revenue for the tourism industry and manufacturing sector. |

| A letter From Greece - It is hot as ‘Hades’, and the temperature indicator in the car is showing 39’C to 42’C. It takes a long time to clear out of Athens even at this time of day, so we are stuck in traffic surrounded by hot buildings. Thank God for air conditioning. Many Athenians are also on the road going on vacation or like us just going for the weekend. |

| The Day I Met a 1,500-pound Gorilla in Uganda - My brother and I (with four guards in tow) were the last to arrive on the scene, almost an hour behind Nancy and the other trekkers. As we came to within a few yards of where everyone else was gathered, I heard a rustling of leaves slightly behind and to my right. I turned, and faced a head four times the size of mine - a HUGE gorilla. The guides estimated he weighed 1,500 pounds. He wasn't more than six feet away from where I was standing. |

All You Ever Wanted To Know About Buying A Castle By Helga van Horn - I once said that most people will do almost anything to read about buying a castle, because it's such a fascinating subject; but few of them will ever really go out and buy a castle. Well I wrote that before the Berlin wall fell and the sudden surprise appearance of numerous magnificent castles in Eastern Europe. Suddenly we were seeing castles worth buying at prices we could afford. Then came the expat revolution, (diaspora?) and thousands of people starting moving overseas; and what better house could we ask for beyond a castle? That's the top of the line in housing. ...and think of the business you could run out of a castle; Bed & Breakfast, Resort Hotel, Restaurant, Spa, Condiminium Project, Joint Ownership, Time Share . . . you can use your own imagination to figure out dozens of use concepts, because the greatest part of buying a castle is the dreaming. . . . and there's money to be made with castle ownership . . . People have always traveled to distant parts of the world to see great buildings or other works of art, to learn new languages, to experience new cultures, or to taste new cuisine. As long ago as the time of the Roman Republic places such as Baiae were popular coastal resorts for the rich. Castles are a natural draw; always have been, always will be. They aren't building any more 300 year old castles - supplies are limited.
Last year tourism generated USD$ 5,490.4 billion dollars of economic activity and it is set to generate even more in the coming years. It is perhaps the major industry that anyone can enter - - with no limits to its growth. If you get a castle - and if you buy it as a result of seeing it advertised on EscapeArtist.com or as a result of reading this eBook report on buying castles, and if you're willing to put a statement on your website stating as much; then EscapeArtist.com will give you free advertising for your castle-run business.
Also, keep in mind that if nothing else, traveling through Europe looking for a castle would make an ideal vacation... |
