Philippines:
The Feast of Forest and Crocodiles - The Pista y Ang Kagueban,
or the Feast of the Forest, celebrated on the last Saturday in June, each
year, is a day when much of the population of Puerto Princesa city turns
out to participate in a massive tree planting exercise. Since its inception,
the Pista has resulted in the planting of nearly two million trees, making
Puerto Princesa one of the last areas in the Philippines which is covered
in green.

Dream
of Tuscany With Eyes Wide Open - After investigating a number of
communities, I had concluded that the medieval city of Lucca, Italy, historic
home of the composer Puccini, near Pisa, fit my vision of the kind of community
that I wanted:- compact, with a real pedestrian center, coffee bars and
lively street life, opportunities for quality music, yoga, and other cultural
activities, plenty of sunshine and fairly mild weather, within an hour
or two of the sea and mountains with beautiful natural areas, within an
hour of an international airport and last but not least, easy to get around
via bicycle, bus or train.

Living
in Ukraine - The Good, the Bad and The Ugly of living in Ukraine -
Ukraine has far more than its share of beautiful women! If you’re lucky
enough to marry one with a heart of gold (such as my wife) and not a gold-digger,
it will make your living in Ukraine considerably easier, but it’s not entirely
necessary. If you are willing to purchase a home here it will be relatively
easy to live here without many difficulties. I know a Canadian fellow who
is not married and is living here quite satisfactorily with even less Russian
language ability than my own.

Living
On Isla Margarita - Is The Grass Greener? - The focal point of
downtown Grenada is of course the plaza or the Parque Colon. It is the
pride of the city and very clean. There are kiosks scattered around the
plaza selling soft drinks and all manner of tourist items. Everyone we
encountered was very pleasant and not “pushy”. You can rent a horse-drawn
carriage here that will take you on a tour of the city. A variety of hotels
and restaurants line the square. We found these to be adequate for a tourist
city, and several were very good. Most seem to be run or owned by expats
from all over the world.

Want
to be an Expat or a Fakepat? - What you will find in Mexico is
that foreigners, especially Americans, move to one of two areas. Traditionally,
they’ve ended up in long-established Gringo Enclaves in cities where the
locals have learned to adapt in order to serve the Americans and where
the locals speak English. Cities that come to mind are Puerto Vallarta
and San Miguel de Allende. There are many more but these seem to be the
most popular.

Living
In Brazil - Brazil for US Baby Boomers - It is no secret to anyone
that the largest segment of The United States population is about to, trying
to, considering, or thinking about their retirements. It is also widely
known and published in numerous articles that this group is concerned about
their prospects - their choices are dwindling and their hopes and dreams
going up in smoke right before their eyes due to things such as safety,
health, finances, cost of living , hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, healthcare
and yes, added to the list in the past few years, terrorism.

initial location until I came across an article in an investment magazine
- If you think of Costa Rica, have you thought of Panama?

Retirement - San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina a Great Place to Retire
- The institution of “tea” an early evening (sort of) dinner party gathering
is very common, in Argentina. The beauty of “tea” is the definite time
frame. If you are bored or see that others are, you simply leave at the
designated time. If something is going on, conspiring to spend more time
together creates nice possibilities. Argentines love to mix and match their
social and professional contacts at tea. Most Argentines are friends-to-romance,
remembering the single status of friends, when they invite friends.

Croatia: How To Have Fewer Tourists - Zagreb is a mixed Croatian

Serious
About Learning Spanish – Do it the fun way - Before I left England
in order to prepare myself for life in Latin America I enrolled for private
tuition to learn Spanish. At a fee of £20 (almost $40) per hour the
cost soon became prohibitive and I abandoned class after only 2 weeks.
Undeterred I purchased a set of “Teach Yourself Spanish” CD’s vowing to
devote at least an hour a day to mastering the language. The CD’s came
in very useful, as coffee mats, and so when I boarded the plane heading
for South America my Spanish was still at the 'hello, how are you'
stage. |

Another Easy Approach To Writing Round-Ups - I think shooting for
round-up photographs is one of the easiest - and most fun - jobs for making
money in photography. Your selection of subjects is as big as your imagination

Any subject can be transformed to a round-up by shooting the right images.
And what could be better than to shoot from your own personal experience
on a subject?

Sri
Lankan Sojourn - History and culture fiends salivate over the legendary
city of Kandy, last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and site of the illustrious
“Temple of the Tooth.” Travelers who are less than ecstatic at the thought
of journeying several hours to see Buddha’s left upper canine, however,
can opt for a site of alternative anatomical interest - King Kasyapa’s
palace in the ancient city of Sigiriya. Built in 500 AD, its walls are
adorned with frescoes of nude beauties that represent some of the lascivious
king’s reported 500 concubines. After that foray into Hefner-ism, it is
probably best to take a purifying hike to the summit of Sri Pada, whose
mystic heights continue to draw pilgrims of multiple faiths.

Escape
Artist Travel Magazine - Online January 2007 ~ The travel magazine
with a point of view; a world-view. EscapeArtist Travel Magazine is about
more than travel; it is about personal exploration through world travel.
EscapeArtist Travel is for the independent traveler passionately seeking
an interactive cultural experience, meeting local people, examining cultural
conditions and exploring unknown lands. A Travel Magazine with an attitude
- Yes; our travel magazine has an attitude, slighty iconoclastic, defintely
cutting edge, and willing to take risks, both in attitude and in content.
We're going to tell you a host of valuable travel tricks - - as self-aware
independent travelers we've learned how to travel where we want and how
we want, totally free from meaningless and unnecessary constraints - -
constraints that may serve the interests of politicians, snoops, and purloiners
with vested interests, but which do nothing to serve your personal, intellectual,
financial and psychological best interest. When we travel, and we travel
often, we travel using methods not written about in the Sunday travel section
of your local newspaper. It's not some sort of super secret insiders information
we're talking about; and it certainly isn't illegal; it is just the type
of information that doesn't serve the interests of those who want to control
your life, so it hasn't been widely disseminated. |

You Ever Wanted To Know About Buying A Castle |

All
You Ever Wanted To Know About Buying A Castle By Helga van Horn
- I once said that most people will do almost anything to read about buying
a castle, because it's such a fascinating subject; but few of them will
ever really go out and buy a castle. Well I wrote that before the Berlin
wall fell and the sudden surprise appearance of numerous magnificent castles
in Eastern Europe. Suddenly we were seeing castles worth buying at
prices we could afford. Then came the expat revolution, (diaspora?) and
thousands of people starting moving overseas; and what better house could
we ask for beyond a castle? That's the top of the line in housing.
...and think of the business you could run out of a castle; Bed & Breakfast,
Resort Hotel, Restaurant, Spa, Condiminium Project, Joint Ownership, Time
Share . . . you can use your own imagination to figure out dozens of use
concepts, because the greatest part of buying a castle is the dreaming.
. . . and there's money to be made with castle ownership . . .
People have
always traveled to distant parts of the world to see great buildings or
other works of art, to learn new languages, to experience new cultures,
or to taste new cuisine. As long ago as the time of the Roman Republic
places such as Baiae were popular coastal resorts for the rich. Castles
are a natural draw; always have been, always will be. They aren't building
any more 300 year old castles - supplies are limited.
Last year tourism
generated USD$ 5,490.4 billion dollars of economic activity and it is set
to generate even more in the coming years. It is perhaps the major industry
that anyone can enter - - with no limits to its growth. If you get
a castle - and if you buy it as a result of seeing it advertised on EscapeArtist.com
or as a result of reading this eBook report on buying castles, and if you're
willing to put a statement on your website stating as much; then EscapeArtist.com
will give you free advertising for your castle-run business.
Also, keep
in mind that if nothing else, traveling through Europe looking for a castle
would make an ideal vacation... |

opportunity for visitors, investors and potential residents. Of course
there are plenty of options all over the world, so why China? Well, anyone
can observe that the world’s economy is shifting and the Chinese dragon
is on the rise. It is an exciting place to be right now that is full of
new horizons. But there’s also the history, the culture, the amiable nature
of the people, the atmosphere – being right there in the middle of these
wholesale changes where an entire country is seemingly stepping out of
the darkness and into the light – there is so much to like and to discover
about China. It’s an amazing feeling you get witnessing all of this progress
and being there to follow it first hand. Then there’s the work ethic and
family-oriented nature of the people…and the challenge that goes with breaking
through your own cultural barriers and starting something new. Get the

and Forex ~ Do you have a small amount of money that you can afford
to lose? Have you ever wanted to ‘play the markets’ …but just a little
bit? Then these books are for you. Speculating on ‘futures’ or ‘forex’…the
money markets, is always risky, and requires skill, but these two excellently
concise eBooks will give you an idea of how to make some money, and not
lose too much. Offered as a ‘two for the price of one’ package, ‘Futures
for Small Speculators’ and ‘Forex for Small Speculators’, are essential
companions to the small investor. A small speculator is someone that “is
willing to engage in risky business transactions on the chance of generating
great profits” but, for whatever reason, has very limited capital to risk.
The small speculator’s risk capital is typically between $2500 to $15,000.
