"The Russians received their Christianity from the Greek influenced Byzantine Empire rather than Rome." The word is "Rus" not Russians. As in "Keivskaya Rus", - it was name of the country that at the time. Rus people evolved into modern Ukrainians over time after being conquered by Poles. Poles spent a total of 200 years in Kievskaya Rus, and influenced immensely the local language, culture and enthic makeup.
Russia emerged as a coutry at a much later time than the time that you were refering to, - after Moscow was built. Ethnically, Russians are belived to me a mix of Rus people who migrated north, and Vikings.

A thousand thanks for your article on living in Bogota. I find your honesty about Colombia refreshing. All you hear or read is always negative about Colombia. I will be traveling there this summer and hope to buy an apartment there too. Did you know that Colombians are
considered the second happiest people on Earth? I will also be visiting the awesome city of
Cartagena de Indias.

Thank you so much for the warm and candid impressions of Fortaleza, Brazil. We will be in Fortaleza in mid-April and of course we, Americans, tend to fear the unknown. Your article has given another outlook abou the culture that we will experience. I have been thinking in terms of places and have not though about the people. You have added to our excitement of our future adventure.
