Update
In addition
to full eBook manuscripts, we are now also seeking reports that are less
than eBook length. To qualify; I'll provide a description of a basic
eBook. An eBook should consist of at the very least 60 pages with
250 words per page. Less than 60 pages does not consist of enough
information to constitute a full eBook and we only take eBooks that are
shorter under rare circumstance; if the information is really important
and the subject does not justify a longer eBook.
Many, if not
most of our eBooks consist of over 100 pages, and we prefer eBooks of over
80 pages in length. (Approximately 250 words per page)
However we
have come to the conclusion that there are many subjects in which we are
interested that could be best presented not as a lengthy eBook, but as
a five to ten page report.
For that reason
consider this a request for such reports. We are interested in a
wide range of subjects as described below.
If you have knowledge of any of the subjects in our venue please contact
us. A Report such as we are describing should consist of approximately
3,000 to 10,000 words, or four or more web pages with 1,000 to 2,000 words
per page. On a standard typewritten page it would once have consisted
of approximately twelve pages, if anyone is still using a typewriter.
(250 - 270 words per typewritten page)
Some examples:
Colin Reedy wrote an article on how to go about "Designing A Shipping Container
As Nomadic Housing" That article might be used as an example of the
sort of report we are seeking.
http://www.escapeartist.com/OREQ4/Nomadic_Housing2000.html
I wrote an
article entitled "Offshore Real Estate As Offshore Survival Retreat - Advice
Without The Sugar Coating - Very Exciting Real Estate Profits In The First
Two Decades Of This Century" That article is another example of the
sort of report we are looking for.
http://www.escapeartist.com/OREQ7/Offshore_Real_Estate.html
Another article
of mine that might serve as an example is "How To Disappear In Six Easy
Lessons" -
http://www.escapeartist.com/efam31/Cartagena.html
How do these
articles differ from the average articles on our website? The length
is one thing; these three examples are all at least four pages in length
and each consists of over 10,000 words. But more important than size
is the idea of a unique subject that provides information that isn't ordinarily
available anywhere else. We are seeking unique ideas and proprietary-like
information that is not generally available elsewhere; or is known only
by you, a very small number of people, or is invented. Invented ideas
are certainly welcome; if the concepts laid out have discernible validity.
To clarify,
what we are seeking are not just articles. The world is full of articles;
every day the newspapers of the world churn out millions of articles...
we could drown in articles if we tried to read even a small percentage
of them. People Magazine has a number of articles each month, most
of them consist of useless information... we certainly appreciate
articles that are entertaining, in fact entertaining writing is a must;
but we don't want articles that are merely entertaining. National
Geographic puts out a monthly magazine that contains articles that are
entertaining... but wow, look at the content! When you're done
reading an article in National Geographic you've learned something.
Okay, entertainment
and content. That's the key to what we're seeking. The information
must be worth paying for, and we'll pay you for it. We'll pay you up to
$200 and up for an article such as we are describing. I believe that
the article by Colin Reedy mentioned above is worth at least $300 because
it has excellent graphics made by Colin and because it contains proprietary
information that Colin created specific to the article. It's an excellent
article and on par to what we are seeking.
If you have
a concept or know of a subject that you believe fulfills our description
of what we are seeking; contact us at once. We'll
consider buying your article. |

We
are now also seeking reports that are less than eBook length

Update - On How You Can Make Money With Your Ideas
The following
part of this article (below) was written in February 2004. Since
then some things have changed. We are now seeking eBook reports on
almost any subject; not just on expatriate issues. In addition we
are seeking reports of less than eBook length as described above.
We have had so much success with our eBooks and our website that we have
decided to expand our library to include more subjects and also briefer
reports - - subjects that are important even if they are not directly related
to expatriate issues. The following article outlines our basic principals
regarding our eBook needs, but what is missing from the following article
is our updated request for eBook reports on any subject. If you know
something, and you know it well, we're interested in turning your idea
into an eBook and putting it on our website. Our eBooks sell!
As the following article states our authors make money.
Read the article
below to get an idea of what we have been seeking in the way of eBook subjects,
or if you think that you have an idea that would make a great eBook even
though it isn't on an expatriate subject and you'd like to find out how
to sell it from our website as an eBook contact
us at once - we're interested!
.
.
Our top
author is grossing over $3,000 per month!
($3,046.95 for July 2004 - $21,128.85
between 14 February 2004, the date her ebook went online and today's date
26 August 2004)
Admittedly
she is a good writer, but she had never published a book before, she researched
and wrote her book in four months. Four months may seem like a long
time, but she now lives in Europe thanks to the income from the sale of
her eBook.
.
.
| Writing a good report is not
rocket science, but it does require that you know your subject. We
stress content and a total understanding of the article subject.
Ideas are what fuel expats! |

Do
the very same thing - or better!
There is no
reason that any person of average intelligence cannot do the very same
thing. It takes time to research and write a quality eBook, but it
is a great way to make a living. One eBook author has three eBooks in our
eBook store and he will probably continue to add more. He makes enough
money from his ebooks to live like royalty in Costa Rica. Shouldn't
you take a try at writing an eBook?
Many people
get stopped when they realize that writing is work, and research is work.
But consider the benefits once you learn your trade. I know one writer
who actually writes in a hammock, using a laptop computer. He lives
in a house on a bluff over the ocean, travels and researches various areas,
makes a substantial income and most importantly, his life is entirely his
own; he goes where he wants, keeps his own hours and lives in total liberty.
eBooks fit
particularly well on our website. Because of the unique nature of
our website our overall subject matter includes a number of subjects that
are important to us and to you, but that would not merit the cost of putting
them into a conventional hardcopy book. A hardcopy book on how to
buy real estate, move to and gain residency in Brazil wouldn't justify
the cost of printing a hardcopy book on the subject. Yes, there is
definitely an audience for such a book, but not a large enough audience
to justify the cost of conventional hardcopy printing. On our website,
such a book is in front of the right audience, and while it costs us to
produce the eBooks, the cost doesn't compare with the cost of printing
a hardcopy book on the same subject. This allows us to keep the cost
low, the subjects as esoteric as our audience, and to provide information
that you would not be able to find anywhere else on the Internet. (...nor
in your local bookstore.)
So, what is special about our eBooks
are the subjects and the prices. We'll get to a wider discussion
of the prices in a minute, let's further discuss the subjects of our eBooks
first to see if you'd qualify as one of our eBooks writers. If so,
you've got a chance to make some money, perhaps enough to live on in a
foreign country. (In fact it could work into making a whole lot of
money, but we're not going to make grandiose claims.) |
.
Do You Know Something Our Readers
Would Like To Know?
What we are seeking is subject and
content. As anyone who has been visiting our website and reading
our magazine knows, we rely totally on content. We are seeking writers
who can write eBooks that have something of value by way of content.
If you've lived for five years in Buenos Aires you probably know enough
to tell someone how to move there, how to find real estate there, how to
find a job there, where to go, where not to go and so forth. If you've
started a hostel in Guatemala, you can probably tell readers how to open
a hostel. You get the point. You have to know whereof you speak
and you have to supply resources to the reader that would otherwise take
them months to gather the hard way.
Reports like these do not have a
mass market appeal. They appeal to a niche audience, and that is where
we come in. Our subscription base is now just over 350,000 subscribers
and we are now the largest magazine of our type in the world. (Note
that our actual unique visitor count to our network does consist of over
one million unique visitors per month. The Alexa Traffic Rank for
escapeartist.com places us in the top 4,000 websites in the world out of
2.5. billion website pages.)
We have the audience and we can sell
your ebook if you have something to say and you can write it.
So, you're not a professional
writer, does that mean we still want your report?
If you've been there and done it,
we absolutely want your report!
What we're looking for are ideas,
not Pulitzer Prize writers. Ideas are what fuel our magazine and our website.
Now we want to expand that concept into eBooks for expats. You don't
have to be a professional writer to submit a report that provides important
information - - information that you yourself have learned by having been
there and done it. That is exactly what our readers are seeking, facts
about living overseas from people who've done it, facts about buying a
barge and sailing down the Danube, what it takes to migrate to Argentina,
how to open a business in Prague, buy an island in Belize, get a job in
Paris, start a farm in Mozambique, run an internet business out of the
Dominican Republic, run a rent-a-scooter shop in Mauritius.

A
Growing Library Of Reports On Living Overseas
| eBooks
are a great idea. Consider
This: If, for example, you are trying to figure out how to move to Bolivia,
buy a ranch in Bolivia, and get residency and a passport there; you won't
find a book on how to go about doing it at your local bookstore or library.
You will here. Our special internet niche provides us with a large
audience of over one million unique visitors per month who are seeking
the kind of reports we are making available. Our first eBooks have
been a tremendous success. We are looking for more writers on a wide range
of subjects. Read on. |
|
|
.
We intend to present eBooks on residency
to numerous nations, including application forms. Unique ways to make money
via the internet. Relocation guides to various nations, including strategies
for finding jobs, buying real estate, setting up a business and learning
the rules of the road. Overseas retirement is another area in which
we are interested, and as stated above, we are willing to look at ideas
that fall outside the venue of expatriate issues. Ideas are important,
and the knowledge of what it takes to put those ideas into practice is
not universal. If you have unique knowledge on a particular subject
you may very well have the makings of an excellent report that can be sold
from our website as an eBook.
.
|
|
What we are seeking
is rich content, style takes second place.
You don't have to be Hemingway to
write eBooks for us, but you do have to have a rudimentary command of the
english language. We'll edit the reports, but your report have to
be written clearly enough to be comprehensible.
Money
How do we pay you? We pay you
40% of everything earned by your report. (Many time what a hardcopy publisher
pays. The reports will be featured in our eBooks For Expats section. We
create banners for them, we provide links to them and we feature them in
our eMagazines that go out to over 350,000 subscribers each month.
Except in special circumstances, most of our ebooks sell for $20. If you
sell 100 reports a month you earn $800 a month. It is quite easy
to sell 100 reports a month, depending on the popularity of your subject. |
.
Plus if you end up having 10 reports
online you could be making $8,000 a month. We've got the traffic and we
have the audience, if you've got a subject that you could write authoritatively
on, then we want to hear about it.
We
want reports and photos on the following subjects:
Just like our magazines, we want
reports on the subjects specific to our venue, but don't be afraid to make
suggestions; we're open to any idea that is innovative in nature.
Our website is unique, we are not afraid of unique, or even iconoclast
subjects.
.
As stated above we are now seeking
a wider range of subjects that those stated in this list - try us out on
your subject idea, we may very well be interested in it. Give it
a shot.
