Alderney:
A Sojourn
By Elizabeth
McNamer
Lovely article.
This is travel writing at,in my opinion, its best. The remembered
details and simple descriptions made me want to go there on the next flight.
Of course, the next flight is always much too far off and a bit too expensive,
but I digress.
Thank you,
Elizabeth, for telling the story and for revisiting the past. I like your
style.

| "Quality of
Life and Cost of Living in Bogota" By Russel Stanley.
This was the
most intuitive and reflective article I have ever read on living in Bogota,
Colombia as a retired american. I did not see one point I would debate.
It is a fair assessment of the experience of living in that beautiful country.
I learned a lot myself and I have been in/out of Bogota a dozen times in
recent years and will be retired in Salitre soon. If you are considering
retirement in Bogota learn from this article.

..w.n living quarters in a huge
| I knew I was
going to be appalled at any article about gauchos. Everyone knows their
stock in trade is animal cruelty. They don't know any better, I guess.
But to have your writer finish an article where she describes a terrified,
bound and hobbled wild animal whose head is hanging low because he is so
terrified until some idiot gets on his back (which seems a lot like a mountain
lion to a terrified prey animal) and THEN finish with "Now that's entertainment!"
is disgusting. Presumably the writer does no better. We have the right
to expect journalists to be more in tune with issues this obvious. Shame
on you, Samantha and shame on you, Madame Editor.

| I have to
admit that I don't feel sorry for the top 1 percent in wealth. Let
them leave. Someone else will always take their place. Anyone
who cheats on their taxes should pay the price. Think about it we
have lower taxes tham most first world countries. We also have have
insurance companies paying their CEO's over $100,000,000 to raise costs
on the poor and middle class. I doubt if any billionaire ever reached
that level by caring about their employees. Why do you think that
companies like Blockbuster pay so little to their warehouse and sales people?
Long John Silvers
in McKinney advertised $7.00 per hour for new crew workers. What
is that? Of course the big story is the fact that oil companies are
getting rich off the suffering of the masses. You may be the wealthiest
but you sure aren't the best. Think about it the two wealthiest people
in the world are pro abortion. One last thing, the rich ship our
jobs overseas to people who will work for beans. The quality
of their products are sacrificed and we are stuck with inferior goods.
