Route To Vista Mar |
| Part of
the Vista Mar project, the Fuerte Amador Resort & Marina is another
of the marinas that is available to Vista Mar property owners. If you are
looking for luxury properties in Panama at prices you would have paid twenty
years ago in the USA and Europe, then you should take a close look at Vista
Mar.
We have a complete
section on Vista Mar. Click on the image to the left or click
here to get more details on Vista Mar - An oceanfront development with
an eighteen hole par 72 golf course and a wide range of amenities that
make life worth living.
If you're looking
for property in Panama, Discover Vista Mar. I recently visited Fuerte Amador
Resort & Marina. The Marina is an ultra-modern facility that is located
at the end of the Causeway in Panama City. |
|
|
|
|
|
| The Causeway
was built by the United States during the early years of the construction
of the Canal in order to keep the mouth of the Canal from being blocked
with silt from the Bay of Panama. The Causeway leads to a series of islands
and on the last of the islands is Fuerte Resort & Marina.
The Marina
is located just 50 minutes by boat from the Vista Mar Resort and has modern
shopping and restaurant facilities. During the late afternoon boats
pull into one of the 50 to 60 slips that have been constructed at the Marina;
people exit their boats, eat at one of the several excellent restaurants
nearby or shop at some of the new retail shops that have opened or spend
the night in one of the many nightclubs. In the next year or two there
will be at least two hotels built near the Marina.
The atmosphere
at the Marina and surrounding shops is relaxed and there is a nice mix
of Panamanians, Americans and Europeans. At night, people walk among the
shops and window shop.
There are a
number of small bars where you can get a drink and something to eat: |
|
|
| I saw two
Italian restaurants, a Japanese restaurant, sandwich shops and a Brazilian
bar and more. And of course there are lots of beautiful people strolling
around enjoying the atmosphere.
The yachts
I saw in the Marina are huge, say 60 to 100 feet long - and longer - with
every possible modern convenience onboard. A lot of powerful people from
Mick Jagger to Greg Norman to American oil tycoons keep their boats docked
at the Marina.
I was told
a lot of people that have their yachts docked in the Marina use their yachts
as a place to hold business meetings: some take the boat offshore a mile
or two and conduct business.
Others take
their yachts out and head off to the Pearl Islands to fish or to Coiba
Island to enjoy some privacy and a little slice of paradise. |

| Other people
keep small boats in the Marina so that they can boat or sail their way
to the beach towns of Vista Mar or Coronado. The Marina has a number of
boat shops that will provide you with everything you could possibly need
to manage your boat; the other shops in the Marina are for most part chic
designer clothing shops that you would fine in places like Miami or Los
Angeles.
The night I
went to the Marina to eat dinner there was a large cruise ship that had
just pulled into the Marina: the Marina is the “Home port” for the Universe
Explorer cruise ship. People from all over the world disembarked from the
cruise ship and enjoyed their night at the Marina.
The Marina
has a great view of Panama City and the Bridge of Americas, the Bridge
that connects North and South America. The thing I most enjoy about visiting
the Marina is the strong sultry, warm Pacific breezes that blow through
the open restaurants and shops; that breeze seems to relax people and watching
them window shop in the bright lights of the storefronts in the breezy,
warm night is fun. Other nearby places to see and visit are the beautiful
Island of Taboga – the Island of |

and, of course, the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal is right next
to the Marina. Last year almost 40,000 passengers visited the Marina and
this year it is predicted that there will be more.
Part owners
of the Fuerte Amador Resort & Marina are also owners of Vista Mar Resort.
Their idea is that people will use the Marina as a point of departure for
their Vista Mar home.
Over the next
year or two Vista Mar will have its own Marina on the Pacific Coast near
Vista Mar, so traveling by boat to Vista Mar will be a logical way to stay
out of the traffic and arrive to your new home, relaxed and not worn out
by a long car trip: sounds like a great plan.
