1- You own Euros:
Ok I am sorry to exclude Americans and Britons from this first excellent reason, but let's face it. There are 250+ millions Europeans with a load of highly valued euros in their hands. It would be foolish, if not stupid, not to use them to purchase properties in the Dollar Zone. And this for 2 main reasons: the current exchange rate makes real estate really cheap, and nobody can guaranty that the euro will stay at this level, which means that if the dollars goes back up… the deal is even better! So don't wait until it is too late.
2- You want to feel safe in your new Homeland:
I have been reading a lot about people suggesting that you invest in remote places… but what about security? I talked with friends who are now in Aruba after spending years in other islands like Dominican Republic or Central American countries. They all ended up in Aruba for one main reason: they wanted a safe place where they would not be worried every now and then for their security or their belongings.
Aruba does not really look like Switzerland, no cows and no mountains, but it is about as safe!
3- You want to enjoy the people:
Before investing in one Country and moving there at least part of your time, one of the most important questions to ask you is: will I feel at ease with the locals?
The first time we arrived in Aruba, my wife and I were completely surprised with the way Arubians acknowledge you. They are just friendly. All of them. Not only will they never bother you, they are always helpful when you need them.
Cherry on the cake, they speak fluently English, as well as Spanish, and Dutch and their local language: Papiamento… almost like home!

4- You want to enjoy the place:
Even if Aruba is a rather small island, it is possible to find lots of different sightseeing: white sand beaches, remote Ocean battered beaches, old rocks and cactus areas, desert like surroundings. Again, only cows and mountains cannot be found.
And if you're into gambling and nightclubbing, same difference. You got lots of choices. Not to talk about excellent restaurants, most of them in romantic settings…
5- You want to enjoy the weather:
At first I was reluctant to invest in the Caribbean because of the hurricanes. I thought it would be stupid to put lots of money in a place which can be grounded within the next year… and I still do think so.
But Aruba, like all the Southern Islands (Bonaire, Curacao, Trinidad & Tobago), is outside the path of the Atlantic hurricanes… makes a big difference to me.
Being a European myself, I enjoy warm weather but I am somewhat uneasy with too hot weather, like Texas or Nevada during summer time…
In Aruba I found the perfect weather I had always dreamed of:
Its 31 Celsius outside (90 something F), but I just need to get under a shade to be cooled down by the permanent Trade Winds which make cool nights.
6- You want great returns for your money:
That's our Holy Grail… getting the best from our dollars, or euros.
Aruba Real Estate market is still low. You can get a brand new 2 bed, 2 bath with a pool for less than 100K Euros or $155K.
And still, the rental prices are relatively high (between $550 and $700 net per week) for the very same house. Make a quick math. You need half a year rental to make a net 10%. In a country where tourists can stay 12 months per year it is possible to get a return, even if you use the house for your own good one month a year.
