Business Guides are called encyclopedic
and that certainly is an excellent word to describe them. We're reminded
of the film version of Jules Verne’s story of the Time Machine where the
protagonist gets to return to the future but only has room in the time
machine to carry one book with him. In the novel we are left to wonder
what book he might have chosen, which is Verne’s nice sort of O’Henry touch
to the tale. We don't have to guess any longer what book we should take
to the nations covered in the WTP Guides. Their existence solves the problem
of choosing. We haven't found anything else that even comes close. They
are the book to read and the book to carry. They are also excellent research
books for writers.
