Happy October! Fall is upon us and this new season brings new adventures from around the world. In our weekly round-up, I’ve gathered a little bit of everything.
One of our own writers has some travel advice for you, a possible new planet was discovered, and one country has a new residency policy that will make family life a bit easier.
One common theme I have found from this week’s news is the reminder that you are not alone. No matter how you look at it, whether you experience a travel tragedy, are thinking of our place in space, are moving abroad with your family, or need help with your new life abroad, there are others out there to help you out. Tyler is an avid traveler who has had many experiences abroad, witnessing all sorts of the tragedies that can occur when away from home. He assures you that if you lose your passport, you aren’t alone. There are resources to get you home.

While Earth is amazing and beautiful, thinking of our own splendor begs the question, “What else is out there?” It was a big shock for many when Pluto was no longer considered a planet. This next planetary discovery may shock you even more!
Billions of miles beyond Pluto, a distant object has been discovered. Nicknamed “the Goblin,” this formation was discovered while scientists searched for a “Super Earth” that is believed to sit beyond our known planets.
Sitting at 7.9 billion miles from the sun, the Goblin is a 200-mile-wide rock discovered by telescopes in Chile, Hawaii, and Arizona.
While the scientists of NASA are busy exploring space, keep exploring our beautiful planet!
Oman Makes Expat Family Experience Easier
Expat regulations in Oman are changing. Children of expats of any age are now eligible for resident cards according to the Royal Oman Police. Previous to this decision, only children five years of age or older qualified for a resident card.
This makes expat life much easier for families looking to enjoy their lives in the country, which is significant as 44.2 percent of the people living in Oman are expats. That’s 2,054,464 people, according to the National Centre of Statistics and information.
If you have any questions about residency permits, visas, or citizenship programs all over the world, get one-on-one answers at our conference this December! You can also check out our residency page to look at the many options you have.

One of the best places in the world for American expats is Costa Rica. Its proximity to the United States and that fact that it’s the most educated, most stable, and safest country in Latin America make Costa Rica a top choice for American retirees and expats.
If you’ve decided on Costa Rica, you next need to select the best city. The city that fits your lifestyle and your budget. In this post, I’ll look at the best cities for Americans to retire to in Costa Rica.
The word “retire” often means a life change… not the absence of work. Many American expats start a new chapter in their lives by…
Costa Rica has become a haven for American Retirees in the past few years. There are many reasons behind this, but the main ones have to be the low cost of living and the tropical beaches and cool breezes. I’m a big fan of Costa Rica and here’s what you should know before moving there.
For many of us, this sounds like the best way to spend our retirement years… living large in a Latin paradise. Being a big fish in a small pond, as I often say. And statistics are proving that Americans think the same. There are more than 50 American communities in Costa Rica.
Most of these communities are made up by retirees, but also…
It seems crazy to me that there are still some countries out there that have not adopted laws to allow and support cryptocurrency exchanges. Just look at how it has transformed the economy of Switzerland and Estonia. This post will look at the fact that South Korea finally recognized cryptocurrency exchanges and issued laws to govern their operation.
South Korea finally jumped on the bandwagon and is now looking to set up the country as the tech and crypto center of Asia. South Korea, a long contrarian to cryptocurrencies, has stepped forward and embraced digital tokens.
The main concern that the financial regulators in South Korea had regarding cryptocurrencies was that it would…
Citizenship and residency by investment programs are popping up all over the world right now, as every jurisdiction seems to be interested in taking advantage of injecting some foreign investment into their capital. But, watch out… there are many fake citizenship by investment programs out there. Here’s what you need to know to avoid these fake citizenship programs!
I have written extensively about this subject and will continue to do so as it is a booming business right now. The main reason behind this trend being that Americans are worried about what their financial future might hold and, thus, wish to diversify their citizenship options. But, there are those who will take advantage of the situation with fake citizenship by investment programs.
Donald Trump’s presidency has a number of Americans terrified of what is next, and whether they should spend their remaining years in whatever country he leaves behind after his presidency ends. And this is true no matter your political bent… be you for or against, there is a great battle brewing.
For this reason, Americans are choosing to…
As a lifelong traveler, I’ve always kept a minimalist perspective on material items. I try not to acquire too much clutter or set too permanent of roots in any one location, since these can become obstacles in the way of exploration. Generally, my checklist goes: phone, computer, wallet, passport. Almost anything else is immediately replaceable.
As time has gone on, I’ve seen my fair share of wallets left in bars, phones dropped in oceans, and computers smashed in transit – so even losing those things, I’ve learned, is not necessarily a cause for panic. It’s my passport, however, that has quickly proven itself to be my most valued possession.
With nothing else, no matter how dire a circumstance becomes, this single document can identify me to the world and send me home. Having a strong passport (not all passports are created equally) is essentially a…
