THE ITINERARY

DAY 1- BELIZE CITY/AMBERGRIS CAYE
After arriving at the Philip Goldson International Airport , you'll take a short flight over sparkling turquoise Caribbean waters to the island of Ambergris Caye where most of the expats in Belize live. The unique town of San Pedro has only sand streets and most residents walk them barefoot or drive around in golf carts. There are over 200 cayes (
Old English spelling , pronounced " keys") off the coast of Belize,  beautiful palm tree lined patches of white sand dotting the peaceful waters protected by the longest coral reef in the Western hemisphere. Most of these small islands are uninhabited , some are even for sale at very reasonable prices! We will visit the 2 largest , with towns established on them . We
will have our welcome dinner together here in San Pedro .

DAY 2- AMBERGRIS CAYE/CAYE CAULKER
This morning we'll attend a seminar with a panel of experts , including an  attorney and the only American CPA in Belize, subjects will include: Offshore services offered in Belize , real estate laws and regulations , immigration and residency , health care , taxation in Belize, investment opportunities , and whatever else you're interested in and would like to ask our experts about. There will also be plenty of nitty gritty information about household appliances, furniture , living expenses, groceries etc. Several of our past tour participants told us this was the best seminar they had ever attended on any subject , we really appreciated that,  since as the moderators we work very hard to keep things lively and interesting .

After the seminar we'll board a boat and head for Caye Caulker ,  which is many peoples idea of the perfect island hideaway. The population of about 800 is divided between Beliizean lobster fisherman and very laid back expats . We'll have a delicious fresh fish
lunch overlooking the ocean then take a walking tour of the island . On our way back to San Pedro you'll have a chance to swim and snorkel , seeing for yourself that gorgeous reef Belize is famous for!

DAY 3-COROZAL
After breakfast we'll take a 20 minute flight to Corozal . This seaside town is very popular with expats. It's close proximity to Chetumal Mexico make it the lowest cost place to live in Belize. We'll tour Corozal , walk through the open air market then head out to Consejo Shores- a retirement community . We'll visit the home of a Canadian expat then follow the jungle lined path up to Smugglers Den , a beautiful tiered palapa restaurant owned  and built by another Canadian , where we'll have lunch .

DAY 4- CHETUMAL, MEXICO
We'll take you over the border today to tour Chetumal the capital of Quintana Roo , Mexico . The strength of the US dollar against the peso make almost everything a bargain here . You'll tour shopping centers , pharmacies ( this is always a big hit ) as well as medical and
dental facilities . From a filling to a face lift , it's all available here. This is where you'll meet our dentist and also see a hospital from top to bottom .After a traditional Mexican lunch we'll head back to Corozal . Tonite back at the hotel we'll have an informal gathering of expats to answer your questions at the beach bar .

DAY 5- COROZAL TO CAYO
You'll get to see a lot of country today as we travel by road from Corozal to San Ignacio . We'll pass through Orange Walk, which reminds us of a bustling cowboy town in the tropics . Then Burrell Boom, a village strung out along  the lazy , tree lined Belize River , you expect
Tom and Huck to come floating down on their raft at any minute .When we reach  Belmopan, the tiny , quiet capital of Belize , we'll point out important government offices. We'll stop for lunch on our way to San Ignacio de Cayo . Verdant , rolling hills, Mennonites in their hose drawn buggies and the Hawkesworth suspension bridge make this town on the banks of the Macal River picturesque . Expats seem to love the atmosphere in the Wild West of
Belize, most of the many resorts in this area are owned by them . We'll stay at the San Ignacio Hotel , beautifully decorated with local tropical hardwoods and surrounded by it's own nature trails

DAY 6- SAN IGNACIO TO GUATEMALAN
BORDER/XUNANTUNICH/SPANISH LOOKOUT
Today we'll drive along the Macal River , there will be some great scenes of Mayan women washing clothes on the rocks, through the Spanish speaking town of Benque Viejo del Carmen , as far as you can go in Belize to the Guatemalan border . Those adventurous souls among us can walk over the border crossing to the Guatemalan town of Melchor de Mencos
and shop for hand woven Guatemalan handicrafts .

We'll ride a hand cranked ferry over the Macal River to the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich , those who are up to it can climb to the top of the 135 foot high temple and enjoy the spectacular view ,  those who aren't can look forward to the delicious home cooking and ice cold drinks at Clarissa Falls our next stop . The thatched restaurant, built on top of a
Mayan ruin and  overlooking the rapids below is way off the beaten trail and
a real highlight.

We'll stop back at the hotel to drop off any that want to enjoy an afternoon siesta and dip in the pool . Then we'll head out to the Mennonite community of Spanish lookout , where you'll feel like your going back in time , with farm houses spread far apart and a real old
fashioned general store .

DAY 7- BELIZE ZOO/Airport
Today we head back toward Belize City to the airport with a stop at the unique Belize Zoo . Started in 1983 by an American woman, this collection of rare tropical animals in their natural habitats is like no other zoo in the world . After lunch we'll send you on your way home  ...or your on your own in Belize!

NOTE:

Our tour will afford you a great chance to "network" with others interested in Belize . We'll provide you with a roster with names and addresses of all the tour participants well in advance . In the past some have been in contact before the tour and even made arrangements to travel together to Houston .

There are others doing investment & retirement tours of Belize now , but we were the first.
(In fact they came to us for help ! )There is no other tour like ours. Why? Because we live here in Belize and have for many years . That gives us a big advantage over a guide who flies in for a few days to "get to know" the country .

We wish we could have gone on this tour ourselves before we moved to Belize . It would have saved us months of research, thousands of dollars and a lot of frustration!.

Unfortunately space on the tour is limited and we can't take everyone who wants to go , so if you want to see Belize with Bill and Claire we urge you to sign up now!

P.S. Were offering a $200 discount , see below for details.
