With the advent of our video sharing site nearly anyone can become a broadcaster,
promoting what they wish to promote. Using a webcam, video camera or even
a mobile phone, you can create your own videos, and with the use of basic
editing tools that come with many new computers, you can edit and share
them with the world. If you are new to video editing and file sharing,
take some time to learn the basics of your video editing program -- whether
it's Apple's iMovie, Windows Movie Maker or any other editing software
-- by visiting the program's Help menu.
1 - Record your video with your computer's webcam,
a video camera, mobile phone or other device. Before
you begin recording, be sure you are familiar with where the video will
be saved on your device -- whether it's the device's hard drive, a SD card
or a video tape, so you know where to access the video for uploading.
An old VHS will only work if you
transfer it to a digital file you'll need a digital converter to plug an
older camcorder into the computer. You can upload a movie directly
from a phone if you set up a Mobile Profile in xxx. With a high speed connection,
it should generally take a few minutes, give or take.
2 - Open your video editing program,
and start a new project. Typically, this is accomplished by clicking "File"
from the top menu, then selecting "New Project."
Edit your movie. Programs such as
Mac's iMovie or Windows' MovieMaker are both good-add titles, effects,
cut out a bad take, etc.
3 - Connect your video camera to your computer
with a FireWire cable, if you have your video on a tape
or the video is saved to the device's hard drive. If you saved your video
to an SD card, remove the SD card from the device and place it into the
SD slot of your computer. Select "File," then "Import" to import your video
file or reel into your video editing program.
