Estate In Salvador de Bahia - The Soul Of Brazil - Real
Estate In Salvador de Bahia - The Soul Of Brazil - Great
photographs and insights into what it takes to find real estate in Salvador
de Bahia, Brazil - "Brazilian property owners and agents pray nightly that
Americans and Europeans will arrive, because they know that buyers from
these countries are most likely to jump on an “excellent deal!” in
fear that someone else will come along and snatch it up before they do.
The real estate bubble hasn’t drifted all that far south from North America
yet. - - The beaches, the music, the culture and most importantly the people
are the main reasons that some expats have moved here. Life is also more
relaxed. One expat with a family says that living here as a family has
many positives. Cost of medical and dental care is much lower and very
good. Food and staple commodities are lower, everything in fact, except
for gasoline. Help is much more affordable. And there is a very good Pan-American
school for kids." - By Robin Sparks |

About a one and one-half hour drive into the mountains west of Rio de Janeiro
is the town of Teresopolis. Jim and Debbie wrote me to tell me about their
$30,000 purchase of an estate consisting of four buildings, a 2 bedroom
main house, a spring fed swimming pool, a vegetable garden, an enclosed
tennis court, and over a dozen varieties of fruit trees. This I had to
see for myself. Jim wasn't exaggerating. Teresopolis was idyllic and he
and Debbie had purchased a gorgeous estate for the price of a tool shed
back home. By Robin Sparks |

Real Estate in Florianópolis, Brazil - The Island of Santa Catarina
- Real Estate
in Florianópolis, Brazil - The
real estate is a bargain, the beaches uncrowded, and the small towns that
dot the island are colonial and picturesque. It's Ilha Santa Catarina,
otherwise known as Santa Catarina Island and simply called Floripa
by the locals; a 200 square mile island located just off the coast
of southern Brazil and it's as good a spot as one could ask for. Imagine
a very large and very lovely Brazilian island with numerous perfect beaches,
(there are 49 major beaches, countless small ones) dozens of lovely towns,
and then throw in the city of Florianópolis, which is a city large
enough (pop 260,000) to provide all of the modern necessities of life without
it being an oppressive metropolis. |

Property in Brazil - Teresópolis In The Serra dos Órgãos
- Brazil is a vast
country and real-estate bargains can be found anywhere, from the beaches
worth fifteen Floridas in the Northeast to the high-rise condominiums of
São Paulo. I chose Teresópolis because I had friends there
and had come upon a bargain in a town of spectacular climate and views,
situated close to the world-class city of Rio de Janeiro. I had cash in-hand
by virtue of having just sold an over-appraised 1060 sq. ft. home in Austin,
Texas. |

Estate in Brazil - Size Does Matter: Adding It All Up - Real
Estate in Brazil - Size Does Matter: Adding It All Up - One of
the first things a real estate buyer wants to know about a property is
the exact square footage or yardage. Generally speaking, this bit of information
is a major factor in calculating a fair market price. Under most circumstances,
the owners, real estate brokers and property listings readily provide accurate
dimensions of a property. This is the system most folks are accustomed
to. But in Brazil, none of the old rules apply…. By Boris Goldshmit |

Hunting In Brazil along the Littoral Norte or Costa Verde between Sao Paulo
and Rix - Few Europeans or Americans have discovered this
beautiful playground of the Sao Paulo ‘Paulistas’ and the Rio de Janeiro
‘Cariocas.’ The Paulistas call it the Littoral Norte whereas the Cariocas
call it the Costa Verde. My wife, a Brazilian, and I decided to rent a
car and investigate this island-speckled coast for a week to consider it
as a potential retirement destination. We selected this stretch of the
Brazilian coast for a variety of reasons. |

A House In Rio de Janeiro Brazil - Buying
A House In Rio de Janeiro Brazil - I joined the Smiles Program
offered by Varig Airlines since I was becoming a regular on the flight
to Rio and they now offer an unbelievably low price for the flight from
Miami (MIA) to Rio (GIG) $420 + taxes roundtrip and nonstop, except for
the stop in Sao Paulo, which I still don’t understand what the nonstop
thing was all about since we always stopped in Sao Paulo. |

Hidden Wonderland: Búzios, Brazil ~ by Elienne M. W. Lawson - A
Hidden Wonderland: Búzios, Brazil ~ by Elienne M. W. Lawson
- One hundred and five miles east of Rio de Janeiro, there is a small peninsula
home to roughly twenty-five beaches, each with its own particular flavor
of paradise. For a thousand years, these beaches were the home of the Tamoio
and Goitacás tribes, who competed to outdo each other at blissful
frolicking in their idyllic surroundings. They drank the sweet milk of
the tucum fruit, which is similar to a coconut, and flirted with members
of the opposite sex while swimming in the surf. In the sixteenth century,
as the European powers cast their greedy glances on the vast wilderness
of Brazil, Búzios remained relatively untouched by the legitimate
forces of military might. |

On Living In Joao Pessoa, Brazil - The
prices for real estate in Brazil are not to be believed however: you either
build your own place or get used to rooms that are considerably smaller
then we are used to here. There are some rather large houses but they do
cost more then the advertised 2 and 3 bedrooms that are actually very small
by our standards. Construction costs are half of what they are here. And
the quality has different ranges but the construction seems to be very
good. |

Month To Buy a House In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ...and The Good Life In
Buzios - Juliana at MR IMOVEIS handled all the investigation and
negotiations for me. I also asked her to find out what the deal was with
the kioski’s on the beach. A resident can actually buy the 12x24ft beach
building from the city starting at R$ 33,000. An established one in Ipanema
was offered to me by the owner for R$ 90,000, must be gringo price. I placed
a deposit on the house and obtained the application to purchase one of
the vacant kiosks in Barra, (there are no vacant ones anywhere else). I
was then instructed to set up a bank account in Rio to facilitate the deal.
In Brasil you have to deposit the full purchase price in a bank at the
time the seller delivers the good title to the real estate to the same
bank. Everyone waits about a month then the money is given to the seller,
minus the 2% government transfer tax and the new title is given to the
buyer. By Romel Fajardo |

Uruguay
for Retiring, Investing, or Just Good Living by Lee Harrison - If you've
never considered Uruguay as a place to live, or even to visit you’re
going to be completely surprised by all it has to offer - The
country is diverse. Montevideo is a old-world European style city with
fine restaurants, colorful markets, sycamore-lined streets and a cultural
scene second to none. Here you’ll encounter an honest, European culture
that’s representative of what you’ll see throughout the country. In Colonia,
you’ll find that the original Portuguese settlement has been restored,
and its residents have made it one of the finest examples of old colonial
architecture in South America. With it’s year ‘round tourist trade, Colonia
is a great place to invest in a colonial restoration or a rental property. |
