Location and History
According to the World Health Organisation, the Costa Blanca (or Costa Calida as it is often referred to) is one of the healthiest places in the world to live. In our opinion, it is also one of the most beautiful. Take, the Nueva Ribera Beach Club for example, which is situated on the calm shores of the breathtaking Mar Menor in Los Alcázares.
The original inhabitants were Romans and Arabs who were attracted by the area's calm waters and exceptional climate (the Costa Calida translates into the 'warm coast' and has over 300 days of sunshine each year with a general temperature touching around 25 degrees). They settled over time along the coast and beaches and traces of these historic settlements can still be found today in various parts of the town. The beaches are still as popular now, thousands of years on (perhaps due to the fact that they have now achieved EU blue flag status). |

Things to do
Los Alcázares is thriving with extremely interesting tourist, leisure and commercial amenities. There is a large shopping centre just a few minutes from Nueva Ribera and a huge variety of bars and restaurants along the esplanade, where you can savour authentic Spanish tapas or simply relax with a drink in the evening. Only a short distance away from Los Alcázares is the town of Torrevieja selling fashion, perfume, shoes, and typical Spanish goods. On the outskirts of Torrevieja, there are a number of high quality furniture shops offering designs to suit all tastes for your new home. Throughout the Costa Blanca/Costa Calida region there are many smaller shops and commercial centres selling high quality goods and famous brand names.
There is a spectacular Pier in Nueva Ribera over the Mar Menor. It has been designed to create that unique experience of enjoying the sun and the sea in a more private and intimate way, typical of all piers on the Mar Menor. It is an extraordinary place where you can enjoy the peaceful ocean breeze, the mild waters of the Mar Menor and the delicious Mediterranean cuisine. The Pier hosts a variety of restaurants, bars and private pavilions. You have access from land through the pier and by sea, docking your ship at the mooring quays of the Pier. Nueva Ribera Beach Club offers you magnificent leisure, sports and cultural opportunities all within a 30-minute radius, as well as six marinas: Torrevieja, Campoamor, Torre de la Horadada, Los Alcázares, The Regatta Club of Mar Menor and Tomás Maestre. If you prefer, you can take advantage of the four nearby golf courses. If we add these four courses to the 37 being planned, we find ourselves in the midst of a golfer's paradise. |
