How many stock markets in the world? We have heard numerous estimates, but no definitive answers. Interestingly, some markets do better than the tried & true. Brazil came out of nowhere and stunned the world with a run up that showed no signs of leveling off.  When we started this website, China wasn't even a contender.  Does that mean that one should go looking for the next opportunity?  Sort of.  Jimmy Rogers, the Investment Biker, went around the world with his girlfriend on motorcycles; whenever and wherever he could he looked at the local stock markets, and he invested. Jimmy Rogers knows where to look, he know what to look for.  He's extremely rich. Does Jimmy Rogers have the answer to overseas stock markets, and how to play them? Perhaps, he is rich, and he made his money far from the maddening crowd.  Take a look at these stock markets, you may just find some treasure. Also if you want to see what Jim Rogers has to say about investing, it would be worthwhile to look at that also. See Hot Commodities: How Anyone Can Invest Profitably in the World's Best Market - Investment Biker: Around the World with Jim Rogers - Jim Rogers is a guy who is not looking in the same spot.  While others lost fortunes in the down turn, he made one.

How to Maintain Asset Privacy Within the US By Bobby Casey, Global Wealth Protection - With asset protection planning, anonymity seems to be the number one concern for people these days.  And rightly so.  Any 11 year old with a laptop can easily do an online record search and find your bank accounts and their balances, your vehicle registrations, your real estate assets, your credit report, your residence history and even your driving record. Many clients are interested in anonymity and asset protection.  In some cases clients confuse the two.  They think that anonymity is asset protection.  It is not, but anonymity does have benefits.  When forming an FLP (family limited partnership) or an LLC (limited liability company), the strength of the entity is dependent upon the state of formation, the quality of the operating agreement and the business purpose of the entity. -   > > > MORE
Hedgefund Manager’s Report from China - I am writing this from the back of a taxi in Hong Kong’s Central district. My meetings with assorted bankers, hedge fund managers, Taipans, and the press stretched on longer than expected, with the result that I am now stuck in rush hour traffic on the way to the airport. So I might as well use the time productively and sum up my thoughts on my recent trip to China. When I first cajoled my way into to the Middle Kingdom in the early seventies, it was in the back of a broken down truck carrying bags of wheat, no doubt destined to a thriving black market. We drove down a heavily potholed single lane road that had not seen serious maintenance since the thirties. -   > > > MORE
List Of Offshore Banks - An offshore bank is defined by its location, or 'jurisdiction'. An offshore bank is usually located outside of the depositors country of residence, typically within a jurisdiction that levies very low taxes, or no taxes at all.  Each jurisdiction varies in its degree of taxation, its degree of privacy, and its services. Offshore banks located in politically and economically stable jurisdictions provide a safe-haven for assets that may be at risk in the nation in which the investor lives and holds residency.
Belize - Offshore Banks in Belize - The legal system of Belize is founded on English Common Law supplemented by local legislation. Belize is now in its second decade of providing international financial services.
Expat Taxes - Offshore Tax Information - Foreign Earned Income - Individuals have been leaving their own land to seek opportunities elsewhere since the dawn of mankind. But it has only been since the development of the modern nation-state, and its taxation of the worldwide income of its citizen-residents, that expatriation has taken on significant tax consequences. One of the first tax advisors to appreciate the potential tax savings of expatriation was my friend and colleague, Marshall Langer J.D., a valued member of The Sovereign Society Council of Experts. Langer is an international tax attorney and the respected author of several major international tax treatises. He is also the daring creator of a now out-of-print book, The Tax Exile Report
Stock Markets / Stock Exchanges F - N (Finland through Norway) - Market participants include individual retail investors, institutional investors such as mutual funds, banks, insurance companies and hedge funds, and also publicly traded corporations trading in their own shares. Some studies have suggested that institutional investors and corporations trading in their own shares generally receive higher risk-adjusted returns than retail investors. A few decades ago, worldwide, buyers and sellers were individual investors, such as wealthy businessmen, usually with long family histories to particular corporations. Over time, markets have become more "institutionalized"; buyers and sellers are largely institutions (e.g., pension funds, insurance companies, mutual funds, index funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, investor groups, banks and various other financial institutions).
Stock Markets / Stock Exchanges O - Z (Oman through Zimbabwe) - In 12th century France the courratiers de change were concerned with managing and regulating the debts of agricultural communities on behalf of the banks. Because these men also traded with debts, they could be called the first brokers. A common misbelief is that in late 13th century Bruges commodity traders gathered inside the house of a man called Van der Beurze, and in 1309 they became the "Brugse Beurse", institutionalizing what had been, until then, an informal meeting, but actually, the family Van der Beurze had a building in Antwerp where those gatherings occurred; the Van der Beurze had Antwerp, as most of the merchants of that period, as their primary place for trading. The idea quickly spread around Flanders and neighboring counties and "Beurzen" soon opened in Ghent and Amsterdam.
