Issue
Number Seven ~ First Quarter 2004
|
|
.
This
issue focuses on two subjects: International Real Estate & Offshore
eCommerce -
|
|
| The International Real Estate
covers Florianópolis, Brazil, Buenos Aires, Nicaragua, Islands for
sale, Bangkok, the Italian Riviera, and how to buy a castle in Europe.
Good subjects all.
Offshore eCommerce is something
about which we are very excited. In fact we have been trying to provide
offshore eCommerce to others for over four years. What is offshore
eCommerce? Offshore eCommerce is eCommerce done under the umbrella
of an offshore corporation using an offshore merchant account and an offshore
bank account, all of it hosted in a secure offshore web hosting facility.
In the briefest of terms, offshore eCommerce is a foreign company doing
business on the internet from a tax free zone. Such a company can
be owned by anyone in the world and it is perfectly legal. The greatest
attribute of offshore eCommerce is that money doesn’t have to hidden, nor
shuffled offshore; it is earned offshore and as long as it is not repatriated,
nor taken as personal income, it is tax free, offshore, and totally safe
from monetary predators. This is also an explanation of why we only put
out one issue of the Offshore Real Estate Quarterly in 2003. We kept
assuming that the web hosting and its constituent parts would soon be ready.
We had to deal with a lot of poorly set up companies before we realized
that if we wanted a state of the art offshore web hosting facility we had
to create it ourselves if it was going to be done properly. We are happy
to report that we can now recommend an offshore web hosting company with
warp speeds, military-like security and total privacy. It's our own
company, we created it ourselves and it's state of the art. |

Real
Estate in Florianópolis, Brazil - The Island of Santa Catarina -
Real
Estate in Florianópolis, Brazil - The real estate is
a bargain, the beaches uncrowded, and the small towns that dot the island
are colonial and picturesque. It's Ilha Santa Catarina, otherwise known
as Santa Catarina Island and simply called Floripa
by the locals; a 200 square mile island located just off the coast
of southern Brazil and it's as good a spot as one could ask for. Imagine
a very large and very lovely Brazilian island with numerous perfect beaches,
(there are 49 major beaches, countless small ones) dozens of lovely towns,
and then throw in the city of Florianópolis, which is a city large
enough (pop 260,000) to provide all of the modern necessities of life without
it being an oppressive metropolis. What we are talking about when we talk
about Floripa is real estate that is very affordable. Yes, you can
spend a million dollars in Floripa, you can do that anywhere in the world.
But good solid real estate can be purchased in Floripa for less than $100,000
- and I am talking about a decent house that you can be proud of.
In the local newspapers I did see properties for US$500,000 and I did see
the usual hype and glitter that appeals to those with deep pockets.
On Floripa it isn't necessary to have a gated community, because there
is no abundance of thieves to lock out. Floripa is a reminder of
a finer world when people could live side by side without locked doors. |

Real
Estate In Buenos Aires - Looking
For Bargain Real Estate In Buenos Aires - While we didn't find any
steals we did find very reasonable real estate prices in the San Telmo
neighborhood. San Telmo is sort of the Greenwich Village of Buenos Aires,
filled with cafes, antique shops, jazz clubs, tango clubs, art galleries
and an ongoing street fair that gets jammed on weekends. The hodgepodge
of European architecture in San Telmo, much of it covered with graffiti,
does have a certain scruffy appeal. There is a ruinous quality to the neighborhood
that gives the impression of once rich royalty down on its luck. For a
certain kind of person it'd be a great place to live, perhaps the greatest
place of all. |

Offshore
Real Estate And The Offshore Survival Retreat - Advice Without The
Sugar Coating - EscapeArtist.com
Talks About International Real Estate As Survival Retreat - I have
never been a dooms-day preacher and I don't intend to start now.
With that said, it would be prudent for the reader to take a calm and objective
look at some of the possible negative situations that may soon take
place inside the USA and see how those events may affect you and your loved
ones. I believe that you can avoid being in the pathway of those oncoming
disasters by having an offshore survival retreat. An offshore survival
retreat can be many things, it can bea summer home, a place where your
family lives and survives a social break-down that may be happening in
the USA, it can be an excellent investment, it can be an excellent place
to live, it can be a way of expatriating and diversifying some of your
assets offshore, it can be the beginning of a better way of life.
That is what this article is about in a nutshell. It can be all of
those things at the same time, or it can just be the one that is the most
important to you. I call it investing in offshore real estate. Jan/03

Boom
Time In Bangkok: Cheap Credit Fuels The Property Market - Real
Estate In Bankok - Banks and finance houses that are lending
money again for property purchases are fuelling the boom, with advertising
hoardings throughout the city shouting out the latest deals available.
Led by the Government Savings Bank, financial institutions are pumping
billions of Baht’s worth of cheap credit into the marketplace. The bank
loaned B68 billion (US$1.7 billion) in the second quarter of 2003, nearly
doubling its lending of B37 billion (US$0.92 billion) in the comparable
period in 2002. By Andy Guest

Want
Your Own Private Island? - How
to Buy a Private Island - "It's not unusual to find a Canadian
island selling for one third the price of its American equivalent, or one
tenth the price of a similarly sized Caribbean property. When choosing
a private island, don't rule out islands which are located somewhat off
the beaten path - you'll spend a bit more in transportation costs to get
there, but you'll save a fortune in the long run." By Chris Krueger

Zero
Taxes for Expats - Earn
Up To $80,000 Abroad Tax Free - Keep The Rest in an IBC
- The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion coupled with Offshore eCommerce equals
tax free living abroad. "There is another way to make more
than $80,000 net and still reduce our taxes to zero. By using offshore
eCommerce coupled with a Panamanian International Business Corporation
(IBC,) we can make any amount of money into the IBC and still keep our
tax basis at zero. If we purchase our house in the name of the IBC, we
can rent the house to ourselves, thereby increasing our tax exclusion by
the amount of the rent, which is paid back into our own IBC bank account.
Note that this modality is best used when you earn more than $80,000 net
and cannot move the additional income into your IBC. The IBC acts
as a buffer in this case by reducing the taxes on the amount of income
that exceeds the $80,000. In cases where the majority of income enters
the IBC rather than being paid to you individually, this modality is hardly
necessary. You can live in the house rent free if your entire personal
income is less than $80,000." By

Privacy - Panama President Signs New E-Commerce Bill Into Law - According
to legal authorities in Panama, the law is based on the guidelines of the
UNCITRAL Model Law on E-Commerce and awards electronic documents and
signatures the same validity as written documents. This is especially
important as Panama has strict banking and corporate laws designed to protect
the privacy of investors. The implication is that Panama now has the best
protected internet eCommerce legislation in the world. By Rolf

Make
Money Overseas - Writing eBooks For EscapeArtist.com - Write
eBooks for Profit - What we're looking for are ideas, not
Pulitzer Prize writers. Ideas are what fuel our magazine and our website.
Now we want to expand that concept into eBooks for expats. You don't
have to be a professional writer to submit a report that provides important
information - - information that you yourself have learned by having been
there and done it. That is exactly what our readers are seeking, facts
about living overseas from people who've done it, facts about buying a
barge and sailing down the Danube, what it takes to migrate to Argentina,
how to open a business in Prague, buy an island in Belize, get a job in
Paris, start a farm in Mozambique, run an internet business out of the
Dominican Republic, run a rent-a-scooter shop in Mauritius.
