| Real
Estate In Thailand: A 12 Day Overland Exploration Of Issan, NE Thailand |
| -
The trip was dual purpose. Spend some time in the relatively “un-traveled”
NE region of Thailand and secondly, rule it out as a place to semi-retire.
I say “rule it out” as I click off cities and areas for long term residency.
Traveling a week after a Military Coup, coupled with flooding in the Northern
regions and having little knowledge of this area would add to the adventure. |

| Return
to Guatemala—now safe and affordable for tourists |
| -
In today’s Guatemala, you can have a great time and maybe find a great
buy on a piece of beachfront property or an old Spanish-colonial
house—if you exercise due caution. The future looks bright for the country
that is home to the Mayas—a people whose civilization has endured far worse
than its recent misfortunes. But we won’t mislead you. The country’s
reputation as unsafe is not entirely undeserved. |

Rambles Around Belize |
| -
We've been talking about it for years: How the wave of retiring Baby
Boomers - the first of us hit 60 in 2006 - will flood the warmer
climes with bazillions of young codgers waving cash and looking for a bit
of tropical real estate. I pooh-poohed that for years, but
it's finally, actually happening. |

v Tooting Bec! |
| - It’s funny
how life works out. I remember sitting in some dreary café in Tooting
Bec, a pretty dreary suburb of London, having a cup of tea a few
years back. Now I’d been told that Tooting Bec was a very-up-and-coming
area and well it might be, but I had that feeling, sitting there drinking
my tea, that if this is all there was to life then heaven help me. But
as we all know sometimes life is like that. |

| Moving
and Shaking the Foreign Exchange Way |
| - Sometimes
the foreign exchange market has all the excitement of a wet weekend in
Detroit and sometimes there are smatterings of excitement in certain currencies.
Right now though, there is so much movement in the currency market that
traders barely dare blink and that, however odd it may seem, is very good
news for anyone planning a move overseas. |

| Crisis
at Cigar Lake: Time to Back Up the Truck on Uranium Stocks? |
| - The
uranium industry is reeling. On October 23, Cameco, the world’s largest
yellowcake producer, announced that its Cigar Lake mine had sprung a leak.
Early attempts to seal the affected area failed, and the underground workings
are now completely flooded. This is a pivotal development. Cigar Lake is
the world’s largest undeveloped uranium deposit, holding 232 million pounds
U3O8 at a grade of 19%. Production from the mine was supposed to begin
in early 2008; at peak, it was thought that the mine would have provided
17% of world uranium supply. In short, this is one of the few projects
that could make a significant difference for the uranium market… or, it
was. |

Ticket to Financial Freedom |

Suppose you suddenly needed to become a citizen of another country.
“That can’t happen to me,” you say. But as the Chinese Communist takeover
of Hong Kong from the British neared in 1995, thousands of wealthy locals
opted to obtain second passports, “just in case.” Many moved to Canada
as political refugees or as potential investors with special residence
visas. Indeed, in recent times, millions of displaced persons escaping
from wars and political tyranny wished they too could have obtained an
instant passport to freedom. |
