The giant US telephone and cable
companies (you can guarantee it'll start in America and spread to Europe)
are trying to take control of the Internet away from the public.
They're asking US Congress to give
them the power to tell you where you can go on the Internet-and what you
can do.

| The article "Buying
Real Estate in Portugal", by John Clare was one of the best articles
I have read from your newsletter insofar as he helps with the reality and
not the dream. There is lots of dreaming in you subscription,
and I enjoy the fantasy of owning "cheap" land/property abroad, and living
a lifestyle of relaxation and charm, but the occasional "real life" articles
are very important as well. Please let us not convey the picture
of the "Ugly American" who has more money than sense, and loves nothing
better than to make money in foreign real estate by being "first" to discover
"undiscovered" paradise. The Natives were there first, and
respect for them is paramount to living abroad.
The example I use is when I moved
to Montana from California, I made certain I did not put my California
values as a standard for Montana living. Too many Californians
go out-of-state and pollute the very lifestyle they are so fond of in their
dreams with the values they developed living a lifetime in California.
Unconscious to the last legal suit to extract the most value for their
dollar, they create resentment from the Natives, and understandably too,
from the Native population's point-of-view.

| We in this world are so often guilty
of prejudgement, assumptions and misunderstandings of peoples and cultures.
So it is with Albania. We can conjure up images of thieves and cons and
getting shot etc., for I stand guilty of this.
Yet, upon research and photos Albania
seems to be, a very beautiful and majestic place.
I remain interested and hopeful
that, while allot of Albanians are making their way here to Canada, maybe
I should make my way there?

Belize and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about relocating
to Belize. It's got me seriously thinking about Belize. I was
wanting to email him and ask him a few follow up questions but can't find

I want to
say as a Canadian, wanna be American, living throughout the world, I appreciate
the honest candid opinion of James Kirby in his recount of purchasing property
in Rio. I checked out his write up because I am information gathering to
purchase a condo in Rio, Brazil. Before I praise him for his information,
I have to scold him for his lack of patriotism and his obvious anti-american
sentiment that he is buying in to. He needs to remember the incredible
country that he comes from and that his ancestors had to fight to make
and keep it this way. I am deeply sorry that he does not appreciate what
he has and feels the need " to sew Maple Leaf flags" on his packbacks and
suitcases when traveling. I have lived all over the place, literally, and
traveled the world over and next year I will be proud to call myself American.
I am presently Canadian but am ashamed of my fellow Canadians that think
we are immune from the HATRED OF non-westernized states and countries.
Don't think for a second that you are safe by pledging Canadian alliance-they
will kidnap, sodimize, rape, torture and kill you too. They hate you equally
the same. I will not get into the horrors that they have caused and
performed on many of my friends, American, Canadian, Japanese, European,
Chinese, to name a few. I would love to share stories and experiences with
you. Unfortunately I do not have the time or energy to write of the loss
of many of my good friends and acquaintances, but I honestly believe that
in this war we must fight fire with fire. Please join sides with your country
men and women because everyone else hates you and if you love your life
you will stand up for what you believe in. Should you like to discuss my
