| In
April of 2005 in reaction to reader demand EscapeArtist.com decided to
turn the Offshore Real Estate Quarterly into a monthly magazine. This decision
to go to twelve full issues a year meant that we needed a full time editor.
Susan Beverley took on the job of editor for the Offshore Real
Estate Quarterly in May of 2005 - Highly qualified for the job, Susan developed
her understanding of investment and real estate by building her own property
portfolio using the proceeds from successfully trading on the London Stock
Exchange.
Her success
and interest in commenting on hot stocks and topics of the day qualified
her to join a team of writers for International Investor Interactive,
a highly respected UK based financial website.
When Susan
decided to find somewhere exotic to live other than London she began a
seven year 17 country odyssey that ended in a small town in western Argentina
where she now lives with her two children, and two wild horses. Her
parents have now joined her to retire to the good life the region offers.
Nothing, she says, could drag her back to England.
When she is
not working at editing the Offshore Real Estate Magazine you are
likely to find her either cooking curries for desperate ex pats, on a frog
hunt with her children, or reading the latest John Grisham novel.
Susan welcomes your comments,
complaints, questions & kudos. ...In any order you want to send them |

| Buy in Dubai
I have been researching locations for investment
over the last 3 years or so, and have recently been making some progress
on Dubai property investment. Do you have any past articles or reports
on investing in Dubai, or do any of your readers have experience or knowledge
in this area, and possible advice regarding pitfalls, legalities, financing,
etc? Many Thanks Jim McShane

| Valencia Land Grab
I started reading Vince Barnes' article
on the Valencian
land law situation, expecting one more real estate salesman's "not
to worry" pitch. Alas, I've seen all too many of them.
It was a great comfort instead to discover a comprehensive and accurate
description of the situation here, and of the disappointing failure of
the Europan Commission to help us. Full marks for treating this abuse
seriously, without sensationalizing or sentimentalizing it.
My one quibble is that, in advising
buyers to purchase land that is already urbanised, you did not at least
hint that they should avoid, if possible, those very unscrupulous developers
who have built on ill-gotten land in the first place. MC

| No complaints, other than I'm
not financially as ready to take the plunge as I'd like and I wish I could
find some friends who are serious about it too.
What I would REALLY like is a
good way to find similarly minded persons here in the states. Here
in the heartland of Indiana, the idea of finding a like minded soulmate
who wants to retire or maybe begin a small business south of the border,
is more akin to Dorothy and Oz.
Do you have any suggestions for
finding like minded friends? Barbara
Sound familiar? Barbara would

This is great but I love to actually turn pages!
Is there any chance of this mag coming out in print? If so I'd be a happy
subscriber willing to pay for the pleasure of turning pages and smelling
ink. Thanks,
Marcellus
Reply: There are no plans at this present
time to go to print, however print friendly pages will be on line soon. |

| Golfing Matilda
My husband and I are Australians.
We are retiring and interested in property off shore. We love Bali and
have visited several times. We have looked at buying property there. However
my husband is a golf fanatic and wants to live on or very near a golf club.
We are hoping that at sometime a golfing estate may be established in Bali
similar to the latest Victoria Golf Club in Sri Lanka, or other such estates.
Do you know if there are any plans to develop such a place in the future
in Bali? Please let us know. Graham & Anne.
If you can help write to Graham

| I really appreciate the information
that this website provides however after reading many of the articles I
still have some questions left unanswered. I'm curious if everyone
who bought offshore real estate paid in cash from their own bank accounts
or if anyone actually had taken out a loan to buy the property. If
so, how was this done - I have yet to find a bank that will give me a loan
for a property in Brazil. Must I approach as a small business loan?
I know that interest rates in Brazil are completely undesireable and would
prefer avoid them. Any insight, references, or anything would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! David
Send your responses to me and
I will forward them on to David susan@escapeartist.com
Readers reply: I have found that
no bank generally lends for property in another country. Difficulty stated
is that the cannot be certain of gaining title in event of a default. Recently
within the EU some banks have begun lending inter-EU- eg Bank of Ireland
on UK property etc. Generally you must pay cash OR the exorbitant interest
rates.
I am on express_system2000@yahoo.co.uk
for any other queries.
