Tonga
is a wonderful mix of culture and humor. Humor
prevails in Tonga. Like a theme park, Tonga has all the characters. Living
here is challenging, elusive and most interesting. Orderly chaos might
describe its internal functions. Like a beehive, the closer in you get
the more confusion and disorder you see, but somehow critters that aren’t
meant to fly do and things get done, problems get solved or just go away
- this is Tonga. If the plane does not fly today, it may tomorrow and that
gives you another day to enjoy your stay. Friendly is what Captain Cook
called these islands - though he was almost roasted on his visit to Tonga.
The people are friendly, gracious, helpful and generous with everything
they have. There are four different groups of islands that make up Tonga,
each with their own expression of the Tongan creed. If you are looking
for adventure but do not want to risk your life, Tonga is probably the
choice, be it for your holiday or a better place to live. Tonga is politically
and functionally independent; no country owns or presides over Tonga. The
King has wisely not sold out to, or aligned himself with, any larger country
outside the region. Sometimes it feels as though the the Tongans
know something about life that the rest of the world is in the dark about.
There are no fears, no rush and no concerns important enough to interfere
with the daily fishing and there's always a big smile and a genuine laugh,
even if the outboard motor falls off the back of the boat. - Retiring,

Live
in Tonga - Move To The South Pacific -
So why wait for change to hit you when you’re down? Get proactive and make
the change yourself. Sell out and get out. Head for where prosperity still
exists and to where no matter what happens, you will never freeze or starve.
Change everything and move out of these countries in turmoil! Yes, out
of Dodge and by sunset, for the sun may well be finally setting back there.
So, kiss your horse (and your house, if you still have one) goodbye and
sail away. Be tough, you can’t take everyone and everything, not all at
once. Someone in your family tree has to be the pioneer in these times.
This time, “go west” means beyond California, out of America and the same
for those in UK or Europe. Just to put this radical “change” into perspective,
a 12 hour plane ride is probably all we are talking about, so don’t think
of yourself as a potential lemming.

The
Time Has Come (to Relocate to Tonga) - A daily
search and sorting, printing and reading will have you questioning about
everything that was in your programmed paradigm life. Like working on a
huge picture puzzle, fitting the pieces together is an incredible eye opener.
Oh what fools we have been. How naive and put upon we have been all of
our lives. Things are not what we thought they were and the awakening is
rude, but enlightening and in some ways, a relief. You’ll be saying, ‘so,
that is why this is and that was,’ as you read on, putting together the
incidents and the slips and one time media reports mistakenly broadcasted,
never to be again. However, thanks to those who record these things and
put them back on the You-Tubes and webs of disclosure, we get to see what
is really the case now and then, here and there. It all adds up to something
most would never, ever imagine.

The
Kingdom Of Tonga A Paradox In Paradise - Tonga
is located in the middle of the South Pacific (tell your postman) about
20 degrees south of the equator and 180 degrees west latitude. It was one
of the last group of islands in the South Seas to be discovered by the
European explorers. Tonga continues to be discovered today by pleasantly
surprised travelers and tourists. Though on the map most vistors to the
South Sea islands fly right over Tonga on their way to more popular tourist
destinations like Fiji. French Polynesia is to the east and Fiji
just to the west. New Zealand is to the south about 1,500 miles away, and
American and Western Samoa just to the north about 400 miles away.
Modern sailors have no problem finding Tonga, for the Vava’u Island Group,
the crown jewel of the Kingdom of Tonga, has long been a popular port of
call for yachts cruising the South Pacific. Vava’u, once spelled Vavaoo,
which is closer in spelling to the pronunciation, is home to our family.

“Paint
Your Wagon” Transplanted In The Islands Of Tonga
- Palm trees sticking out of islands, azure seas, blue skies and the white
sand beaches. Throw in a bunch of fruit trees and we are back in Eden -
complete with a new beginning and new apples. Now, people tend to repeat
mistakes, it matters not what garden they are in. This article is about
moving to paradise with a little peek inside. For those who are dreaming
about living outside the cubical, like an island castaway (with a new car
and speedboat) in a safe and idyllic environment, it is actually a lot
easier to accomplish than it might appear. Most people would never consider
it; same as most cows wouldn’t walk over a “cattle guard,” even the ones
just painted on the road. Conditioned, programmed or just plain stuck in
a mindset that prevents the body from moving over the imaginary line can
keep us in bondage. The same mind that, from dirt water and air, created
cars, airplanes and spaceships (bombs and bullets too) can’t seem to put
it together to move out of harms way, even when we now know that the light
at the end of the tunnel is a train coming straight for us. If it is only
paint between us and where we want to be, know that you can get free with
a little paint remover.

Creatures
& Comforts On Kangaroo Island ~ 4-WD Tracking of Koalas, Kangaroos,
and Cockatoos - Kangaroo Island - The
dark, deserted building showed no resemblance to an airport. Noticing our
hesitation, the cab driver reassured us that this was the Adelaide General
Aviation Terminal, the departure venue for Emu Airways’ 84 weekly flights
to Kangaroo Island. Much of our eager anticipation for this sojourn centered
on a magical, ecological adventure to Australia’s third largest island 30
minutes by air and 120 km. from the mainland. Being the dutiful U.S. travelers
that we are, we arrived at the terminal the customary 2 hours prior to
departure time. That turned out to be 1 ½ hours too early. Slower
paced, “no worries” attitude prevails in South Australia.

Australia’s
East Coast Islands ~ Island Hoppinge
- by Dawnelle Salant - One place worth stopping in for at least a few days
is the town of 1770. The only town to have a name consisting solely of
numbers, 1770 was named after the year Captain James Cook stopped there.
Our main reason for visiting here is to participate in one of the day trips
going to Lady Musgrave Island. From 1770, the boat takes about two hours
to get out to the Great Barrier Reef. Once there, it ties up to a pontoon
that holds snorkeling equipment, an underwater viewing tunnel and a glass
bottom boat. You can go for a walk on the island itself, but scuba divers
have to sacrifice this opportunity in order to descend into the depths
of the coral rich blue-green waters of the lagoon. Lady Musgrave was the
site of my first dives on the Great Barrier Reef, and possibly some of
the best diving I have ever experienced. The clarity of the water and the
superior visibility, which stretched to well over 30 meters, made for some
of the best conditions I have ever experienced underwater.

From Winter A Special Place In The Philippines
- O.K., let’s face it, there may be no one on the planet as sick and tired
of cold wind, and snow as I am, having endured 50 cold winters (out
of my 66 years) due to familial and work obligations. Having
traveled the length and breadth of the U.S. in an “18 wheeler” for 12 of
my working years, I am familiar with the fact, that there are damn few
places that are really comfortable and affordable within it’s borders.
I used to hear people say, “Oh I love the 4 seasons, and all the changes”…etc.
etc. So if you’re in that category, you can skip this, and go on,
because I now live in a place that is very affordable, and essentially
has one season, Summer, all year long! Yes, they have names for different
times of the year, and if you’re talking to an English speaker, (and
there are more here than you’ll find anywhere else in Asia). --->

VANCOUVER
ISLAND - BRITISH COLUMBIA - CANADA - an offshore island paradise within
sight of the US border - Real Estate & Life On Vancouver Island
- Many folks are approaching retirement or have reached that point in their
lives where the same old routine stretching out to oblivion is something
they want to avoid. They are thinking of making changes, doing something
different, living a little. Many are sitting down to computers and roving
the Internet in search of that perfect spot in which to retire. In which
to start a new life and rejuvenate themselves. Images of seductive beaches
in Mexico or Costa Rica slide over their monitors and they picture themselves
already there. Some, a few, will actually go to these lovely places and
have a look. Fewer still will commit to living there. Still, I believe
you should follow your heart and check it out and then be ruled by your
instincts. You never know!

Real
Estate Investment Retirement in the Philippines
- For many British, Australians and Americans, retirement time is
just around the corner. At home, with low interest rates and high cost
of living, the prospect of trying to live on a pension, in old age, is
a daunting one unless you are prepared to substantially downscale your
lifestyle. For some, moving to retire in another country is an option which
has been successful in the past with Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Puerto
Rico being among some of the more popular destinations. But why not consider
retiring in the Philippines. The Philippines offers a significantly lower
cost of living. The Philippine Peso exchange rate is approximately 48 to
$ 1.00 or 70 to 1 Pound [Sterling (GBP)]. Housing, food, and labor costs
are quite reasonable. A One bedroom condominium can be purchased for around
$ 100,000 or GBP 55,000 or a Studio for only $ 60,000 or GBP 35,000 and
one can dine out on average at a three star restaurant for less than 500
pesos.

Expat
Taxes - Offshore Tax Information - Foreign Earned Income Paying Taxes Overseas
- Or, Not Paying Taxes Overseas - Individuals
have been leaving their own land to seek opportunities elsewhere since
the dawn of mankind. But it has only been since the development of the
modern nation-state, and its taxation of the worldwide income of its citizen-residents,
that expatriation has taken on significant tax consequences. One of the
first tax advisors to appreciate the potential tax savings of expatriation
was my friend and colleague, Marshall Langer J.D., a valued member of The
Sovereign Society Council of Experts. Langer is an international tax attorney
and the respected author of several major international tax treatises.
He is also the daring creator of a now out-of-print book, The Tax Exile
Report. This title gained international notoriety when the late U.S. Senator
Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.), red-faced and angry, waived a copy of
the book at a televised Senate hearing, denouncing it as “a legal income
tax avoidance plan.” Also see: Running

Never
Pay U.S. Taxes Again - Legally - Expatriation:
It’s been called “the ultimate estate plan” and it’s a legal, step-by-step
process that can lead to the legal right for you to stop paying U.S. or
other national income taxes—forever. In sum, it requires professional consultations,
careful planning, movement of assets offshore and acquisition of a second
nationality. When all that’s done (and done exactly right), you must leave
behind your home country and become a “tax exile” with an established domicile
in a low or no-tax jurisdiction. And, for U.S. citizens, this unusual plan
requires, as a final step toward tax freedom, the formal relinquishment
of citizenship. A drastic plan? You bet. And in truth, there are many other
perfectly suitable offshore strategies that The Sovereign Society recommends
that can result in significant tax savings. These include international
life insurance policies (TSI 1/02)5 and offshore investments made
through retirement plans (TSI 7/03).6 But for U.S. citizens and long-term
residents who seek a permanent and completely legal way to stop paying
all U.S. taxes, expatriation is the only option. Also see the article:
