Master
Of Survival - Chief Antonio Zarco Of The Choco Indians Of Panama - by R.M.
Koster
- Chief Antonio Zarco taught survival training at the Tropic Survival School
in Panama. His students included members of the U.S. Air Force, ambassadors,
embassy staff, civilian scientists, and astronauts of the Mercury, Gemini,
Apollo, and space-station programs. Only an inch or two over five
feet tall but very muscular, with thick deltoids and powerful arms and
skin the color and apparent texture of polished mahogany. He is physically
imposing well beyond his size. "It pleases me that a man who didn’t
understand elevators could make a lasting impression on a man who had traveled
in space."

Living
And Retiring In Panama - Panama - The Haven Of The 21st Century - by Phillip
Townsend-
Home to Central America's most vibrant and attractive capitals (Panama
City), Panama is slightly larger than the state of Florida. Bordered by
the Caribbean Seas and the Pacific Ocean, it is one of those places that
can seduce you through its sheer natural beauty. The seemingly endless
stretches of picturesque coastline, lush green valleys, near-perfect weather
and friendly people make it one of the most livable places in the world.
If you like Florida, the Caribbean and South America, you'll love Panama.

Panama
~ Real Estate And Prices In Panama ~ by James Hickman
- What a fantastic time to buy in Panama City. Two weeks before I had been
bit by the bug again…. so I booked my flight, contacted some developers,
and headed down for a long weekend. I kept quiet this time; I hate getting
the obvious question - “Why are you going there?” I made a tentative itinerary
to meet with two developers of new condo projects and another developer
who specializes in the renovation of colonial quarter residences…. fairly
ambitious for a short trip, but worth the rush.

A
Tale of Two Low-Cost Retirement Towns - Corozal in Belize and Boquete in
Panama - by Lan Sluder
- With millions of Americans and Canadian baby boomers just a bank CD or
two away from retirement, the race to find low-cost retirement destinations
is off and running. That’s particularly true in Mexico and Central
America, where many prospective expat gringos see the potential of stretching
their dollars and living better for less than is possible back home, yet
being within two to four hours by jet from their old home towns.

Our
Experience In Setting Up In Panama - by Lars Frandsen
- It was early in 2003 that the thoughts and discussions about starting
a new life matured into a decision; what was not clear, was where? Costa
Rica had been the initial location until I came across an article in an
investment magazine - If you think of Costa Rica, have you thought of Panama?

Not So Conventional Reasons to Love Panama-
Most of us have already read the myriad of articles about Panama, not to
mention the “About Panama” section on the websites of every real estate
agency promoting property in the region. There is no doubt that Panama
possesses numerous advantages, including its strategic geographic location,
incentive program for retirees and a relatively low-cost of living, amongst
others. However, some of the reasons that I particularly enjoy living in
Panama are not the most obvious, such as The Canal (after showing my 4th
visitor the Miraflores Locks, the outing becomes slightly monotonous) or
its proximity to Miami (I’ve never been to Miami in my life!). Certain
pleasures can only be recognized after living in Panama as a foreigner
for some time.

John
Wayne Island ~ In An Imaginary Tropical Western-
It was only after I had been in Panama for three or four years that I began
to hear about John Wayne in Panama. A friend told me that he had spent
a lot of time in Panama during the 1960s and at one point had owned an
island in Panama as well as being a part owner of a shrimp business. Apparently,
Wayne liked fishing and of course Panama has the best fishing in the world;
in fact, Panama, the word, means an abundance of fish. For years I was
unable to decipher which island John Wayne owned or where the island might
be located; it was only recently – the last year or so - that I realized
that a John Wayne Island did in fact exist and that there was a project
being developed on the island by some Austrians.

Links On This Page
Old links on
our website - Escape Artist has been online since 1996, back in the
days when there were very few websites. We have never been a mainstream
website, but we have always been in the top 1%-2% of all the websites in
the world. Our 'niche', as it's called, has been popular among a
consistent number of the world's internet surfers since the inception of
our website. Over the past few years our traffic has made a dramatic
statistical upturn. Okay, we are not in competition with YOUTUBE, nor with
any of the many 'websites of the day', and that is because we appeal to
a select group of thinking individuals. Due to our growing popularity
we are at last able to afford to hire more staff and to add more features.
We still have a large number of old links and old resources on our website
which we are reluctant to delete out of hand. So we maintain many old pages
on site until we have a chance to upgrade them. The following are
some links in this section which we admit are sorely out of date, but which
none the less may contain value to the visitor. We are in the process
of updating these pages. Until then you are welcome to visit those
older pages for the value which they may still provide.
