Belize
- Moving To Belize - Living In Belize - Buying Real Estate In Belize
- For a certain kind of person there is a certain kind of place; and for
certain people that place is Belize. Belize - the laid back Caribbean country
of Central America! It's a favorite of those seeking a calmer lifestyle
in close proximity to the wonders of nature. Like an un-planned 2x4
full of splinters, Belize is sturdy, rugged and full of sand fleas, but
it also has it's share of beautiful islands, adventuresome spirits and
rum soaked nights. It's the place we dreamed about as children. A
very popular destination. - Many North Americans and Europeans have a dream
of living where the water is blue, the air is warm, the rum is cheap and
the living is easy. Belize may, or may not, live up to your expectations
in those regards. Many who do make the leap to Belize end up frustrated,
unhappy and broke, so investigate thoroughly before you decide to move
to Belize.
Live
In Belize: Articles Resources & Videos
- The EscapeArtist Belize Portal & Newsletter. A combination
of natural factors—climate, the Belize Barrier Reef (longest in the Western
Hemisphere), 127 offshore Cayes (islands), excellent fishing, safe waters
for boating, scuba diving, and snorkeling, various jungle fauna and flora,
helicopter touring and Maya ruins encourage expats to move to Belize.
These factors also support the thriving tourism and ecotourism industry.
Development costs are high, but the Government of Belize has designated
tourism as its second development priority after agriculture. In 2007,
tourist arrivals totaled 251,655 (more than 210,000 from the U.S.) and
tourist receipts amounted to $183.3 million. - Includes a complete Live

Costa
Rica - Moving To Costa Rica - Living in Costa Rica - Buying Real Estate
In Costa Rica - Costa Rica - has been an expat
destination longer than most other nations in the region; Costa Rica has
excellent climatic regions, a lovely environment, great beaches, lower
prices than the USA & Europe, and an interesting culture. The
section contains articles on living in Costa Rica, embassy resources, links,
strategic contacts, real estate & related information. - - This year,
[2012] the first of the 79 million Baby Boomers will turn 65, an age which
is generally considered to be ‘retirement age.’ Many Baby Boomers thought
they would be able to retire comfortably, but in the sobering economic
downturn of the past three years, they have now faced the hard-cold-fact
that they may not be able to retire at all, in the US. But Boomers will
not settle for just a ‘cheaper place to live,’ they want to live in a safe
and stable country (Costa Rica is a politically neutral democracy), live
in a supportive community, have excellent and inexpensive healthcare, and
be able to hire affordable household ‘help,’ which many cannot do in the
US.
Live
In Costa Rica Newsletter - The
EscapeArtist Costa Rica Portal & Newsletter is unique in its quest
for honest, real life stories from people working and living abroad in
Costa Rica. We live in Costa Rica, we know Costa Rica, we believe that
Costa Rica is the expat haven of choice. We look for the opinions, the
advice, the I wish I would have known this then, and the down and dirty
truths from the mouths of those who have experienced it all firsthand.
Escapeartist Costa Rica is dedicated to this true-to-life portrayal of
the country we love. All of our articles are written by people who work,
invest, love, explore, and live the "pura vida" here in Costa Rica.

El
Salvador - Living in El Salvador - If you
want mountain scenery, El Salvador has it. The active volcanoes, well worth
the visit. There are also great beaches, many lakes with crystal clear
water, good for fishing and swimming, and houses regularly come up for
sale in these areas. You can find anything you want, and if not, you can
buy the land and build it, cheaply. - - El Salvador is one of those countries
that most people either ignore or know nothing about or are fearful to
visit. And then you talk to people who can talk about nothing but El Salvador
and why you should visit or move there. The country does have some stunning
spots and the economy has picked up as the political problems of the 70s
and 80s have faded. Now might be El Salvador's time.

Guatemala
- Moving To Guatemala - Moving to Guatemala
- Why Guatemala? First its affordable. A middle - class retirement
can buy an improved life style, with plenty left over to support your activities.
You can attain a much higher standard of living on your social security,
investments and retirement income. - Since Antigua was “rediscovered”,
property has become a premium commodity in the center, which is called
the “casco”. If and when an original restored Colonial property becomes
available in the central area, you may expect to see active purchasers
lining up for an opportunity to buy a small piece of history. For most
people,
Guatemala is considered a “third world” country. In certain aspects, that
is quite true. With that original thought in mind, it’s hard to believe
that homes for sale are sometimes in excess of $5,000,000.00 US dollars
(Current exchange rate for the local currency “Quetzal” is trading at 8
to the US dollar). Obviously, we are talking about the exception and not
the rule. A beautiful Colonial style home on a reasonable lot size in a
gated community, can be purchased from the low $100’s to $200,000.00.

Nicaragua
- Moving to Nicaragua - Living In Nicaragua - Buying Real Esatate In Nicaragua
- Located in the heart of Central America, Nicaragua is an exceptional
country with its spectacular lakes, towering volcanos, friendly people
and legendary towns filled with cultural richness. The country beckons
foreigners to come and see all it has to offer. Some foreigners have
already gotten wind of the country’s potential. A recent article
in USA Today states that over 5,000 Americans currently call Nicaragua
their home. - The word is is out: “Nicaragua is the new Costa Rica” but
with prices 35-55% lower than its southern neighbour. Nicaragua is well
and truly bouncing back from its troubled and often misunderstood past
and beginning to transform into a sought after investment and tourism destination.
Misconceptions still persist, but in many ways that only increases the
opportunity that Nicaragua offers. Nicaragua's democratically elected government
is showing a great capacity to reform in line with its commitment to a
free-market economy.

Panama
- Moving To Panama - Living In Panama - Buying Real Estate In Panama
- Why has Panama become one of the hottest expat destinations In the Americas?
Is it because we have our offices here as some media sources suggest? Or
is it because Panama has over 150 International Banks, not counting domestic
banks, uses the US Dollar as its currency, has excellent infrastructure,
excellent telecommunications, has an educated populace with a low population
density to land mass, and is a stable nation in a world of instability?
You be the judge... maybe we chose it for those reasons and our being
here just helped spread the news about the place. It is now the hottest
expat destination in the Americas. Find out why. - Starting with
the fact that Panama is one the most interesting countries one can visit,
Panama is a mélange of old and new – of beautiful skyscrapers and
that feeling of old town blues. Escapeartist invites you to experience
Panama as it is – as an incredible Latin America country, with spectacular
landscapes and history lessons like those that you never heard before.

Two
things have ushered us into a world without borders... the end of the cold
war and the advent of the world wide web of global communications &
commerce. Today it doesn't make a great deal of
difference where in the world we are located, we can carry on some types
of commerce from anywhere; from an island in the middle of the Caribbean
to a sheep ranch in the the Australian outback. A game of global musical
chairs has begun, and we are now changing places with people willing to
go to America or the UK to work for a wage we no longer consider attractive,
while we begin to move further afield in search of greener pastures. Many
of us are now looking for what might be called a 'life.' Tomorrow, it will
make a great deal of difference where we live. But certainly not in the
same sense as we now perceive it. Tomorrow we will live where the best
real estate exists, where the least crime and repression exists, where
population pressures have not decimated the environment and where business
is encouraged and not hindered by legislation. We will live there regardless
of that place's global location or its former political posture.

List
Of Offshore Banks -
Listing banks in over two dozen of the the top offshore tax havens - An
offshore bank is defined by its location, or 'jurisdiction'. An offshore
bank is usually located outside of the depositors country of residence,
typically within a jurisdiction that levies very low taxes, or no taxes
at all. Each jurisdiction varies in its degree of taxation, its degree
of privacy, and its services. Offshore banks located in politically and
economically stable jurisdictions provide a safe-haven for assets that
may be at risk in the nation in which the investor lives and holds residency.
In the historical past, Americans living and working in abroad
would open bank accounts with a local bank in whatever country they were
living and working, and if it earned any interest at all would never show
it on their U.S. income tax return. This was part of the unofficial
benefits of living in outside of the U.S. Handled correctly; it still can
be.

How
To Bank Offshore - Why Bank Offshore? - The
Governments of the world are out of control . . . and broke. They
need your assets to make themselves solvent. That they squander those
assets is forgone. Is 2012 the Last Year for Opening an Offshore Bank Account
for Americans? - On March 28, 2010 President Obama signed the
Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act into law. According to official
government press releases, this was enacted to prevent offshore tax abuses
by US persons. While this is certainly true, it doesn’t tell the
whole story. In reality it is a way to prevent an outflow of capital
from the US as well as implement very strict currency controls robbing
you of your personal freedom. - - Is the US Monetary System on the Verge
of Collapse? - Tune into CNBC or click onto any of the
dozens of mainstream financial news sites, and you’ll find an endless array
of opinions on the latest wiggle in equity, bond and commodities markets.
Banking Offshore is prudent, find out how to do it, and where.

Travel
can become a place lived; and a place lived can be a form of travel -
This Chronicle by Michele Kohan should therefore be a Godsent to those
moms who find themselves with children but with no prospect of living any
sort of life that presents the challenge of personal and geographic exploration...
The question becomes, 'are my children safer and better off in the suburbs
where one meaningless day blurs into the next, or in a tropical rain forest
where each day presents a new challenge and a new learning experience?'
It isn't an easy task for a mom to decide on the tropical rain forest;
such decisions fly in the face of conventional wisdom... But conventional
wisdom has worn thin, today's so-called civilized suburbs with their shopping
malls and weapon-filled schools are no safer than a tropical rain forest.
Add to that the stifling intellectual atmosphere of the USA that wilts
and crushes the qualities of independent judgment that every child should
develop....
