While the rest of the world ex- periences an economic downturn, Brazil keeps chugging along. This may be due to its abundance of natural resources, something lacking in Japan and many European countries. Or is it the fact that Brazil is leading the way in eco-industries such as biofuel and wind-turbine farms, while the United States plays catch-up? Perhaps it’s because Brazil has experienced modest and therefore sustainable development, unlike the overdevelopment in many eastern European and other Latin American countries.

However it came about, Brazil seems to the bright spot in an otherwise bleak global economic picture. With Brazil’s emerging middleclass and bourgeoning foreign investment, the strategy there is simple – just keep building to meet the growing demand.
